Seriously WTF is with this thread???

We love our team lets get behind them and AVB, Bale must rate him as he signed a new 4 year deal and I am certain that would not have happened had Moyes been the front runner.

Look at it this way AVB could have sat for the next 3 years get 100k per week from Chelski, he has opted to drop this and take the hotseat at our beloved club with a view to push us forward, part of the deal surely has to be a transfer kitty and certain targets to strengthen the team, so from this I am getting hope.

I am going to stay optimistic on this one, AVB taking the job shows he has minerals coming back to manage a team in the EPL a rival team to Chelski.

Lets get behind the man, give him a chance see what the transfer window brings and the results of the first few games will tell us alot.

AVB take us to the next level and you will be a THFC legend!
Glad to see a few more on here seem to be seeing the brighter picture, RSS61, Spursjoolz, millers-tach nice to see I'm not the only one excited by the bold gamble Dan Levy has taken.

                                             AVB's BLUE AND WHITE ARMY!!!!!!

Hey I was one of the first to be positive lol, anyway cant get over some of the negative bollox on this thread!  The more I hear and read about what AVB is doing at our club the more I feel he is going to prove many of you very wrong.  And dont expect immediate success it wont happen over night!

Why Not ?

He has a squad that basically finished 4th,5th then 4th again in the last 3 seasons and AVB has the full backing of the chairman who has invested in the squad !!!!

I would say that is every reason for there to be immediate success and according to AVB himself in every interview he is saying that we are gearing up for a title challenge.

I'm sorry but anything less than 3rd and/or at least 1 trophy (not the tin pot League Cup) I will be viewing as a failure, because I'm damn sure that if 'Arry was given this kind of backing we would be challenging for the title as we were last season up until the end of Janurary without the backing !!!!!!!

I would have to almost entirely agree with Ugs on this point.

It is one thing to point out the ridiculousness of condemning a man before giving him a chance, but Levy will have to live by his actions.

For me though finishing 4th is the real minimum standard we should reasonably expect, knowing that we would be in a good position to kick on again from there and (probably) have champions league football as well.

There is also a way we could be reasonably happy in 5th position, but only if 5th spot is with the same points total we got last season. But this is a very unlikely outcome.

However, if Levy is going to be able to turn round and say he did the right thing, we have to finish 3rd or above, no excuses. In this scenario, AVB simply has to bring instant success or at least maintain our current position, anything else is failure.

The facts are that harry had been talking himself up as the new england manager for the last 18 months or so .In february this year spurs wanted him to sign a new contract but he wouldn`t because capello had just walked and harry wanted his job .Then , in march chelsea sacked AVB and harry refused to rule out taking that job .When it didn`t pan out as he planned he wanted to sign a new contract . Harry showed us no loyalty what so ever .That`s why levy sacked him . I personally think AVB  will do well for us and he`s showing some big cajones by even wanting to manage in england again .If it goes tits up he`ll be sacked and we`ll get someone else just like Ars*nal would have sacked the unknown and inexperienced arsene wenger if he hadn`t worked out .
If your not spurs you`re dead to me

Wenger was hardly inexperienced and the fact that English didn't know him doesn't make him unknown either. He had quite a few trophies in his CV before joining Ars*nal.

Well you could say the same about AVB. Portugese league title, Europa League etc. More trophies than Harry in fact, in next to none of the time. To be honest I'm sick of this debate. Give the guy a chance. Wether we like it or not he is our Manager, that wont change unless we have a poor run of results. As we havent even had a friendly yet it's way to early for all this nonsense. Lets see where we are in January and if we are not perfoming by then I will be the first one posting AVB out until then I think we need to keep an open mind and support the team as we have always done.

A few people on this site have danced around the facts regarding Harry, rather conveniently. As stated here, I would bet these are pretty much the facts, and who else, in Levy's shoes would have let Harry carry on ?

Football these days isn't about loyalty it's about money and success and you will only get success if you spend money to get or keep the best available, ask Citeh !!!!. Levy has just sacked the best available regardless of his loyalty issues he was the best english manager in the Prem and we f**ked him off and bought in a man who didn't have the Cahunas to stand up too or earn the respect of the squad he had ........period !!!!!

While I loved Harry like everyone else on this list, I am struggling to understand this thread. We are talking about someone who won a domestic league without losing a game and a European competition. That's more than Harry has done in a lifetime. OK, the guy bombed at Chelsea, but that's the ups and downs of being a manager (apart from Mourinho maybe). The fact is that the guy is a winner, and he might just lead Spus into a golden era.

Correction, he won a domestic pub league and a European cup that any decent club does it's best to get out of A.S.A.P. Don't try and defend him by blaming the Chelsea players. If he knew how to man manage people he would never have got himself in to the mess he did. I just hope Levy takes a hike shortly after he sacks AVB. My guess is that he will be gone between Dec 12 and march 13

On and on and on this thread goes .........
But face up to it guys ... With "Super Harry"   we won absolutely Nothing!!!!
Yes 4th and other good positions in the league, good run in the C/L but we won
Nothing. Sadly couldn't even rate us as the best London side over his period in charge.

Would we have been Winners or runners up in the Prem with Harry  this year,
won any trophys  etc ..... I think not ... who is not to say he would have carried on like the
run we had from Feb onwards.

But now AVB, a new managerial staff plus signings things might be different .. I hope so
and look forward to the new season.
A few points dropped here and there wouldn't warrant calling for the managers head to roll.
Lets not count how many Harry dropped from February onwards.

Keith burkinshaw won two f.a cups , a uefa cup , took us to the league cup final when it was still worth winning and had us  in europe every season from 1981 until he resigned so i think he might take that title uggs !

Exactly. And why did Burkinshaw resign at the height of his powers ? Player power. Fast forward to 2012 to Chelsea and AVB.

Yes Ok, but Burkinshaw had 8 years in charge and didn't win anything until his 4th season in charge, in fact he got us relegated in his first season only just making it back to the first division the following season behind Bolton and Southampton. I know because I watched most of those seasons from the terraces as a 10 and 11 year old !!!!

So 'Arry avoided relegation in his first season and next year would of been his 4th season ........

Either way 'Arry has been our best manager for the last 25 years and Levy sacked him for a man that hasn't got the balls or ability to control a dressing room at a big club .........period !!!!!!
