I'm loving the fact that we have signed these players and off loaded the dead wood fantastic BUT why didn't Levy back 'Arry in the same way why didn't we spend this money when we were flying last season ...... why now and why with a manager that's a risk.
I think that is the bit that really sticks in my throat too. I have wanted us to go out and buy our players early for the past couple of seasons. We all knew the areas we needed to strengthen and also knew that we were 2 quality players away from really challenging those above us. Harry, to his credit did wonders with the very good squad he had. But you are left wondering what would he have done if he could have gone out and spent 30 - 40 million on a couple of players. It just does not make sense.
How it may have transpired:
- Harry kept saying he needed some more cash to take spurs forward.
- However, Levy wanted to do it the Ars*nal way.
- Harry accepted this but did not like it much, but still achieved excellent league positions considering.
- Then this season in January he really pushed but still Levy said no.
- Then when it all went pear shaped and we missed out on the Champion League.
- Harry told Levy he was a F*!king idiot and it was his fault etc. etc.
- Levy then sacks Harry (for other reasons as well maybe) rather than admit being wrong.
- Levy appoints AVB
- He can then hide behind having a new manager as the reason he has decided to build the squad again.
- Levy can then bask in the glory (if it works out).
