Too much negativity on here. Like it or not AVB is now our manager, personally I am quite excited for the coming season. If you call yourself a Spurs supporter then get behind him and the team.

AVB's BLUE AND WHITE ARMY!!!!!!!

I AM A SPURS SUPPORTER AND HAVE BEEN FOR OVER 40 YEARS and I'm worried, very worried not until I see the team playing and winning will I be happy and not just for one game either I want to see an improvement on last season otherwise this has all been for nothing !!! So far I haven't seen anyone appointed that inspires confidence in me that this is going to happen ......even with our new signings !!!!!

I haven't felt this worried since we appointed a certain Christian Gross for those of you that can remember him, we started to make in roads on the top of the table over last few seasons (Ramos excepted) and I fear we may now be about to make a massive assault on mid table mediocrity !!!!

While I loved Harry like everyone else on this list, I am struggling to understand this thread. We are talking about someone who won a domestic league without losing a game and a European competition. That's more than Harry has done in a lifetime. OK, the guy bombed at Chelsea, but that's the ups and downs of being a manager (apart from Mourinho maybe). The fact is that the guy is a winner, and he might just lead Spus into a golden era.

Sad to read such negative posts on AVB from fellow Spurs supporters. I remember some of you guys moaning about the lack of new signings at the start of last season and more moaning in January.

We arenow  bearely in mid-July and have already signed 2 significants players with the prospect of maybe 1 or 2 more. We have also extended existing players contracts, got rid of some dead wood and signed a new manager.

If you believe that Harry could have taken us further, ie: win something, then you are living on a different planet!! The problem with some of you guys is that you are scared of any challenge. Yes AVB is a challenge, but to me he is just as safe as Harry, who, as I have mentioned many times before, has done wonders but had gone as far as he could go.

AVB is a puzzle to most of us today purely because of his failure at Chelsea. Do you honestly believe that he will repeat the performance at Totttenham. I don't!

Always thought this site had a few lurking internet fishermen.

Amazing

This is right up there with that Hotspurs idiot who called for Harry's head for about a season and a half backed by someone who now seems to think his achievments are amazing.....weird.

On a different note if anyone sees the flag on my avatar at a match could you let me know, one of the guys got p*ssed and lost it at the Chavs game last season.

Couldn't have put it better myself. Its the players we have in place who will determine how we do next season, so long as they are capable of playing the way AVB has in mind. We have got bundles of youth and pace in the side now, with more to come. Crucially as well we have strengthened central defence. All we need now is Moutinho, Lloris, Ade, and 1 more top striker, job done.

I'm loving the fact that we have signed these players and off loaded the dead wood fantastic BUT why didn't Levy back 'Arry in the same way why didn't we spend this money when we were flying last season ...... why now and why with a manager that's a risk.

Although 'Arry never won many trophies every club he has managed improved and most were small clubs without the ability to make it right to the top, so Levy brings him in and then when he starts to weave his magic he refuses to back him when we were on the brink. First season 9th after starting with the handicap of 2 points from 8 games then 4th,5th and then 4th again (admittley last season should of been better).

I can't see how everybody is so happy and excited that AVB is now our manager, Stefand Freund is our assistant manager and we have a first team coach that no one has ever heard of !!!! I've supportted this club for 40+ years spending a few of them on the terraces and I've seen Hoddle, Waddle, Ardiles, Villa, Hazard, Crooks, Archibald, Roberts, Peter Taylor, Steve Perryman and Maradona play at White Hart Lane, and for the last couple of seasons we have played the best wonderful free flowing football I've seen at the Lane and traded blows with some of the biggest teams in Europe and still looked good !!!!

Then just because the Chairman dosen't like the fact the Manager isn't a yes man he ditches the lot and brings in a man who failed epically at one of our London rivals and this is good !!!!!

The only way that I can accept this is if AVB manages to get us to finish higher than 4th and wins several trophies otherwise you can keep all your s**te about his unbeaten season in an inferior league and his European trophy win in a competition half the teams don't take seriously until the last 8 and the rest couldn't beat Torquay United !!!!

Sorry I'm a Spurs fan through and through and if you cut me I bleed Spurs, when I cry I cry Spurs and the only thing I love more than the club is my family, so don't tell me that we are onto a good thing because we already had one and we blew it on the whim of a power hungry chairman who wants to control everything !!!!

I think that is the bit that really sticks in my throat too. I have wanted us to go out and buy our players early for the past couple of seasons. We all knew the areas we needed to strengthen and also knew that we were 2 quality players away from really challenging those above us. Harry, to his credit did wonders with the very good squad he had. But you are left wondering what would he have done if he could have gone out and spent 30 - 40 million on a couple of players. It just does not make sense.

How it may have transpired:

- Harry kept saying he needed some more cash to take spurs forward.

- However, Levy wanted to do it the Ars*nal way.

- Harry accepted this but did not like it much, but still achieved excellent league positions considering.

- Then this season in January he really pushed but still Levy said no.

- Then when it all went pear shaped and we missed out on the Champion League.

- Harry told Levy he was a F*!king idiot and it was his fault etc. etc.

- Levy then sacks Harry (for other reasons as well maybe) rather than admit being wrong.

- Levy appoints AVB

- He can then hide behind having a new manager as the reason he has decided to build the squad again.

- Levy can then bask in the glory (if it works out).

Do not confuse my position with that of unguided, unconditional support for AVB. I would have kept Harry as manager for the next  5 years at least. I do not believe AVB is the right man at the right time, but he may have been the right man, just now is the wrong time. Either way, he is not the person I would have chosen.

But I will only condemn a man for what he is doing in the present, not for the mistakes he has made in the past or for any ridiculous premonitions of an as yet unknown future.

I am on guard for any signs which suggest my current fears are correct. But 'fear is a weapon of mass destruction' and I refuse to let it influence my ability to have compassion and be fair.

So no matter what else is said about AVB before the start of the season, I will continue to give him a chance, albeit only a small one.

Don't misunderstand me, I have nothing against AVB, albeit he is a footballing moron. My hatred is for Levy. The vast amount of his footballing decisions since he joined the club would have got most chairmen sacked. I can only presume that him and Lewis have a very close relationship.

Of course I will give AVB a chance, what option do I have. That chance will last until we lose the first game though, unless the first game we lose is after Christmas. In reality though, it will probably be against Newcastle !!

lmao, i am willing to bet on his football knowledge and achievements over yours anyday of the week. Show us your medals Baldbloke?

Levy is magic if we had some halfwit in charge always looking to spend beyond our means we would always be two sh*t signing away from being Villa. The reality of economics and funding seems to be still lost on so many.

What do you mean Levy is magic. This s the same bloke that wanted us to move to Pikeyland, and still would given half the chance. This is the same bloke that wouldn't put his hand in his pocket in January, so Arry had to get an old striker and an old centre half on free transfers. OK, he is good with money, and I am sure his personal bank account would quantify this. As a football chairman he stinks, and his signing of the premierships worst ever manager (AVB) confirms this !!

Again Baldbloke you are stating opinion as fact. But you can not back this up with evidence. How is it possible that AVB is the worst ever manager in the premiership? This statement is simply fabricated, opinionated hogwash, and you bloody well know it!

Chelsea's League position Facts 2011-2012, last match day of each month:

28.8.11 - 4th
26.9.11 - 3rd
31.10.11 - 4th
27.11.11 - 5th
31.12.11 - 5th
31.1.12 - 4th
26.2.12 - 5th

sacked 4th march - 5th

Now I know that Chelsea would rather be higher in the league. But even when there was a power struggle, players not playing for the manager because their heads were up their own arses, they still never went below 5th in his time. Now I don't know about you but my maths is not so bad that I can work out that there must be at least 15 worse managers in the league this year alone! I don't feel it is necessary to find out about all the other managers that have ever managed in the Premiership, but I could. You see if you are going to state your opinion as FACT. Please try and find some evidence that will at least support your view.

I can not decide on Levy at the moment. On the one hand I do not like the way harry was ejected from the club and how he did not back him in the transfer dept. However, there is a positive feeling coming from the players and ex-players about the direction spurs are going in. I saw this with my own eyes today at the fun day. Sorry Baldie but I think you may have got this wrong.

Maybe next year...

Seriously WTF is with this thread???

We love our team lets get behind them and AVB, Bale must rate him as he signed a new 4 year deal and I am certain that would not have happened had Moyes been the front runner.

Look at it this way AVB could have sat for the next 3 years get 100k per week from Chelski, he has opted to drop this and take the hotseat at our beloved club with a view to push us forward, part of the deal surely has to be a transfer kitty and certain targets to strengthen the team, so from this I am getting hope.

I am going to stay optimistic on this one, AVB taking the job shows he has minerals coming back to manage a team in the EPL a rival team to Chelski.

Lets get behind the man, give him a chance see what the transfer window brings and the results of the first few games will tell us alot.

AVB take us to the next level and you will be a THFC legend!
Glad to see a few more on here seem to be seeing the brighter picture, RSS61, Spursjoolz, millers-tach nice to see I'm not the only one excited by the bold gamble Dan Levy has taken.

If avb does well we are all happy. If not then Levy will be facing the sack himself as this one is all his making! In reference to the January window Harry talked about Cahill and Tevez, we were never gonna get them! I don't agree with the sacking of Harry but will give avb my full support. There is something else behind the scenes with Harry and Levy, hopefully will will find out the full story one day...
