For f**k sake he created 66 chances last year, it ain't his problem if our strikers are f**king s**t.

where is this totally subjective stat from ??.... seems the quality of chances created were not that great.

anyone can lob a ball up into the pen-box and it gets labelled as a chance.... unconverted 'chances' created are a poor poor stat, as it doesnt give any indication of the QUALITY of chances created.

Here we go again... Everyone, please remember that Gare... The Daywalker has access to information that the Premier League and the rest of the world doesn't have. Don't even try using stats and logic. Those two things have no place in his special little world.  ;)

this 66 chances created is a very wobbly stat.

I could play 40 games and lob a ball into space inside the pen-box and if the striker doesnt do scissors-kick-volley into the far corner of the net, thats his problem... whereas I can tot up yet another 'chance' created to add to my cv/resume..

Modric: a good central-midfielder... not great.... good at recieving/releasing the ball in tight spaces of the midfield, average at covering space/runners defensively, weak at the business-end of attacking plays with low scoring-rate and low assists-rate..

I think thats a pretty fair assessment.... an OBJECTIVE assessment.

Well said. Garet... Daywalker, would you say that Xavi is a sh*t player? Xavi recorded only 7 assists last year, is he not any good at setting up other players?

Of course he is. he just plays a pass away from the assist.

I think all this aggression comes from your need to vent your anger/frustration/delusions about whats inevitably going to happen.

Did he really say that? Haha go back to beating up DJ's Steven.

Link for you  :2funny:  http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2010/aug/10/joe-cole-messi-gerrard-liverpool

And for those that cant be bothered with the link

Gerrard said Cole, signed in July on a Bosman from Chelsea, has the ability to drive the team forward.
"[Lionel] Messi can do some amazing things, but anything he can do Joe can do as well, if not better. He used to shock us in training by doing footy tricks with a golf ball that most players can't even do with a football. I really fancy Joe for the [player of the year] award this season."

goes to show freestyling tricks with a ball should not be confused with footballing ability thats effective - theyre 2 different things.

tho Cole is far better than his current image would show, thanks to wasting his time with a kick-n-rush team that had little pace in the side. Cole will be better next term, with Bale and Lennon to pass to.

on Xavi, if he was still 26yrs old and declaring his wish to leave and thus effectively 'in play' for transfer and a team offered 22m, you can be assured that 10 other teams would have rushed in to counter-bid in order to stop a rival even possibly getting a great player at that price..... to my knowledge nobody else has yet come out to bid for Modric.... fact.

Pretty good article. This section pretty much sums up the debate.

"playing delicate through-balls in the final third is plainly not his main job at Spurs -- that task falls to Rafael van der Vaart, who played as a classic No. 10 between the lines. Modric was instructed to sit deeper, and knock balls out to Gareth Bale and Aaron Lennon on the flanks, in addition to playing passes in toward van der Vaart.

Modric's low goals and assists statistics should be used to illustrate the role he plays, not to criticize his contribution"

Modric can certainly do that alright..... along with dozens of other players at less than half the price.

a creative attacking midfielder with very little lead in his pencil at the business-end of the pitch.... maybe we can get a great centre-half who can't head the ball for 35m too ??

So Modric is an average player who isn't worth the money.... so why are Chelski desperate to sign him and I also believe Sir Alex Ferguson was also very interested in signing him, oh and Citeh were after signing him too, so Redknapp, Ferguson,Mancini and Villas Boas all rate him, and you don't  :2funny:

So using logic 3 out of the 4 top teams from last season would love to sign him so that must make him equally as good as any of there midfielders or better !!!

I suppose your argument Gare, sorry Dayw@nker, is that your beloved Ars*nal haven't made a bid for him so that renders him a poor option, and we should sell him and play the extremely productive, skillfull, agile, tactically brilliant and free scoring Jermaine Jenas.

You spout more s**t than the local sewage works Gare, sorry Dayw@nker, get a grip man, sorry child and realise your argument has more holes in it than a moth eaten pair of underpants.
