Is Jenas really in competition with Modric anyway ? I think that it is more realistic to say Jenas and Huddlestone are competing for the more defensive midfield place. When it comes to attacking midfield, Modric is by far the better option. The Hudd vs Jenas debate may well be a bit closer as both have good and bad points. Certainly on Saturday when Hudd was missing  JJ came in and did a pretty good job.

actually the real question ought to be... and I suspect Arry also feels deep down.... whether THudd or Modric to play with Jenas at CM...

and it really is debatable whether Modric actualy is better as an attacking midfielder to Jenas... the 2nd half vs Inter at WHL is a pointer... or even, as I see it, whether a 20m Modric is better as an attacking midfielder to the 6m rated Kranjcar....certainly Croatia dont seem to think so..

As good as Jenas and talented as you praise him. He is constantly letting people down.

That talks alot about his attitude. How come Hutton the disastrous Right back for us. Or Gomes infact could turn around and become more consistant than Jenas ever will.

It also seems that most people see Jenas in a negative way. Ive never ever read any blog or news or media crap about Jenas being good except from the managers. Which i think they were just trying to build his confidence? i dont know. But all i know is that one thing, Modders delivers where Jenas fails bigtime.

Likewise weather 7 million Jenas is better as a All rounder player than Stevie G or Lampard.. Certainly England don't seem to think so.

Puchi...you are absolutely right... thank you so much for explaining that too me so well..

I think that if you , as you seem to be, are typical on the Jenas analysis re. Spurs SUPPORTERS than you really do deserve every success in the future..

Jenas' attitude is really terrible too... I can see that now.... I especially like the '' . Ive never ever read any blog or news or media crap about Jenas being good except from the managers. ''..... pure genius that..

thanks again Puchi.

Ugly... you are so naive its really quite endearing...

Arry, with direction from above, needs to keep Modric's 20m+ value up as much as possible, what with Levy already taking a bath on Bentley's transfer... bought for 17m lucky to get 5m now....

its possible to give the illusion of Modric still being invaluable to Spurs, as long as you play him in certain games when everyones fit, and as much as possible during injuries eg.THudd's....

during the most critical moment of the season so far, at the time of greatest stress, when we were 2-0 down vs Inter and with 10 men..... remind me again which player Arry subbed and which stayed on...

if Modric-THudd is the REAL 1ST choice.... why take Modric off to keep Jenas on the pitch ??... :-*

The reasoning behind keeping JJ on the pitch in that game is fairly simple at the time we needed to make sure we didn't concede again and JJ offers more defensively than Luka does as he gets box to box, it has nothing to do with each players respective ability or influence even the thickest of football fans would understand this.

unsurprisingly you forget to mention the other more likely scenario.... as Arry himself admitted to in the league game last Saturday when we were also 2-0 down to the home side at 1 stage: he'd rather try and get something... even a draw... outta the game with at least 1 half remaining, even at the risk of losing 5-0 after 90mins...

at Inter, it was a CL game.... whether we lost 2-0 or 6-0 it still wudda just meant losing 3pts.... so I (and I suspect you to) doubt that Arry kept Jenas on for defensive reasons.... he would have believed.... with 80% of the game left to play, that there is still the chance to get at least a draw....

that would have meant SCORING 2 goals at least...... not exactly the sort of scenario that you wanna prefer a defensive player primarily...

See Gareth it's exactly little snide remarks like that that get right up the nose of the majority of us on here. Sometimes you make decent arguments but you always have to dress them up with some damn stupid condescending comment. If you took a step back and had a good look at yourself you might see yourself how others see you and do something to change your attitude. We are all entitled to an opinion. You are not entitled to belittle those who happen to disagree with you.

Dead wrong for three reasons:
1) Our tactics down 2-0 on the road will differ greatly when playing with 10 men as opposed to 11.
2) Goal difference matters a great deal when playing a 6 game CL schedule. There's no margin for error.
3) Spurs should never lay down and play for a draw against Ars*nal. Harry understands that. And with 11 men (including our #1 keeper) we actually stood a better chance getting any kind of result by making Ars*nal defend.

What's your dog in this fight anyway - aside from just stirring the pot?
He's strained his left adductor muscle it says. Whats that then ? Do we all have those or just footballers ? I wonder how mine are ? *courtesy of taimedowne*

and youre most probably scottish Millsy (no capital 's' required)...

Tame.... you make a very good point about my seemingly disrespectful barbs.... but at the same time you seem to ignore that theyre probably there as retaliation mainly.... and it doesnt help when there are occasions that especially you I sense agree with some of my comments, but fail to back me up against the largely ignorant tide, for fear of being seemn as 'not 1 of the boyz'.... if on occasion you see sense in a comment, maybe you should augment the point rather than take the safe option on the fence..

for the record.... Jenas was seen as the better option over Modric, at a time of greatest need and optimal stress for the team, playing 2-0 and a man down to the European Champions in their own backyard.... when we needed to try for a draw with still 75mins+ of gametime left...

Jenas then had 2 assists, as well as winning the ball leading to the 3rd Spurs goal that night....not Modric.

And i hope we keep you as our pet Gareth.

You are like a very uninteresting social experiment (a bit tiresome and repetitive like most experiments)
