The fight for Gareth Bale has seen to swung Tottenham's way edging out Manchester United. The Guardian suggest that the 17 year old is eyeing up a move to white hart lane.

Southampton failure to earn promotion to the Premiership has influenced Bales decision and Bale leaving St Mary's is inevitable.

'His future is expected to be discussed at next week, with north London emerging as the most likely destination,' the paper claims.

I have heard about this but a few things I have got to say he is overpriced and inexperienced though he is one of the best talents around he would be a good signing, Though I prefer Baines as our LB next season.

If we can get him for about 5-6 mil then great. But anything near 10mil is overpriced IMO. Hope he isnt just another Walcott flop.

I dont know why everyone is saying he is overpriced. He is probably the best set piece taker in England and he is a full international at the age of 17. He has a great future in the game and I hope that the future is with Spurs. Sure £10 mil is a lot of money but we can afford that and he plays in the position we most need to fill. 5 Star signing if true.

Worth £10m for his jumping spin celebration alone, he is a real set piece threat, best since beckham IMO, but thats cos I've only seen his highlights, im not sure what sort of workrate, tackling, passing ability he has or his vision, pace or mentality, but if they are half as good as the attributes I have seen he will be a decent buy, especially given his age and room for development still.
There be dragons

We cant just buy someone cause he's good at set pieces. Firstly he must be able to defend, and what I've seen he isnt very good at it. But he is young and still learning his trade. Baines is still the better bet for me.

Precisely, 10mil is far too much for someone unproven at the top level. Baines is a far safer bet, but if Bale becomes a superstar we will be kicking ourselves.

good buy for spurs. Although 8-10m quid is too much for an unproven 17yr old left back who plays in championship. But hopefully he works out for you.
I used to think that being lazy was bad for me .......  So I gave up thinking

I just read the same on BBC. He's having a medical and a source close to him expects him to sign within days. However the Southampton boss refuses to comment on whether a fee has been decided.
