If reports are correct, Morten Gamst Pedersen could soon be making his way down to the capital.

Martin Jol is supposedly looking to utilize a release clause in the Blackburn players contract which would allow Tottenham to sign him for £8 million. It is common knowledge that Martin Jol is looking to strengthen the left side of Tottenham's midfield and after impressing in thursdays clash between the two sides it seems MGP is a wanted man.

However, Spurs may struggle to make the Norwegian a Tottenham player with Manchester United sniffing around the player as well.

MGP is renowned for his wonderful crossing, shooting and volleying ability and in my peoples eyes £8 million is a bargain.
Mark Hughes is adamant that he will not be leaving Ewood park but unfortunately, for the Lancashire side, they may have no choice if one of the big boys comes sniffing.

I think Jols prefers Downing, and looking at his stats this season I might surprised. Most crosses in the league from open play, just what we need.

Gamst is a good player, just think Downing is a better bet.

I'd rather have Pederson than Downing, not saying Downing isn't good enough I just don't really like him- I have no reason not to just don't!

Agree with you Jude. MGP preferable - I dunno what it is about Downing, doesn't seem to have much personality in his play

Yeah maybe he has had the most crosses this season - how many were successful?

MGP by FAR! Much better all-round player. Wonderful crosser of the ball, precision set pieces and i swear i remember him getting goal of the season last year or the year before. He is a fantastic player, and arguably one of the best left wingers in the premiership. MGP would terrorise right backs and when he starts playing to his potential, Lennon will terrorise left backs. I would love for him to come to the Lane, he would solve three of our problems. Our left wing problem, out free kick taker and our corner kick taker.

I would love this, I prefer him over Downing, who would cost more [IF and only if, this release cause is real] as both are very rated players in the Premiership. I also feel that MGP has a lot more experience.

However he tends to be hit and miss, in some games he is amazing, others you don't see him, Lennon has this habit aswell ad if it happened to both, well...

Rather have Pedersen than downing in our team. A deal worth £8m should seal his signature I do agree that he will solve our left side problems. MGP and Lennon on the wings will be one to watch next season.

i'd defintely have MGP over downing as well, i dunno i'd still rather see if our scouts are doing anything overbroad and maybe try pinch someone higher up in a different league, just a hope though.

Pedersen is clearly miles ahead of downing who is overrated. The only problem is that MGP is very incosistent. On his day he is second to none but the only problem is those days are quite rare, thats one of the reason I don't want him at United. But you never know maybe tottenham will get him and he will become a much more consistent player with more quality around him.

Cover and competition. Getting one left sided player would be an advance, but if we have another 59 game season we will need fresh legs and strength in depth on the left.

Apparently Spurs have agreed a £5 million deal for Pedersen WITH Mido going the other way!

This may not be the most reliable of sources but apparently the author of the article's mate's son is the groundsman @ Ewood Park...

Also, It is known that Rovers did want Mido, so does sound realistic...
