I think the names you mentioned were rightly sacked.
You have got to be kidding?
So you believe that every one of these deserved to go when they did. Seriously the board can do no wrong in your eyes can they?
I also see that AVB was not on the list, so maybe that is the one they got wrong, in your opinion.
I think the real benchmark here is whether the manager in the position at the time, does not look like achieving the same, if not better than the previous year. With a bit of common sense when it comes down to having more points but in a lower position, weird European rules, or the fact that all the teams above you have spent far more money in the transfer market (off-setting the blame off the manager and onto the finances/budget of the club)
Sherwood - maybe he shouldn't have been put there in the first place, but his sacking achieved what exactly? Nothing, we are actually worse off now than we were, not MPs fault.
AVB - I was fed up with the style of play and the lower quality players, but would he be doing worse or better than what we have right now? I actually think he would be doing better, can't believe I'm saying it, but it is the truth. I think with greater experience, I think he would be getting points where we are losing them now.
Harry - Putting aside all the baggage, that a few people like to keep bringing up. He is, was and always will be (if we stay like we are) the best manager we have had in my lifetime. Why oh why oh why? would you get rid of him and replace him with AVB? I am pretty sure he would get more from the current players we have, we would be playing a style that we all prefer and the results would be better. I still think the lack of quality would put us in about 5th or 6th at the moment, but anyone who doesn't think that needs their head seeing to. As a side note is it a coincidence that our best time came when there wasn't a director of football. Maybe it wasn't Harry's magic, but the lack of the dark cloud looming over head.
Jol - Even though once Jol had gone, we ended up with Harry, was it right for him to go? Probably not. Harry is better than Jol, but I hated that decision at the time. It was almost as bad as the way they sacked Harry. I am sure the side would have improved and done better given more time. As it turned out, it was the right decision, but this was more luck than judgement.
The fact of the matter is that each of these managers would probably not do worse than they already did. They may be able to improve on each others records (AVB still has the highest win ratio, Harry still achieved more and played better football) but none of them can polish a turd.
There is only one recurring factor in these decisions and the state of the club on the field - Levy! First step to get out of this madness, get rid of the director of football and coach, and go back to having a manager who makes his own transfers.
Oh and as for what Comolli said - put aside your blood ties and love of the club, it is time to swallow the blue pill. What he actually says is true. Look at our record of buying rubbish players, look at our none existent scouting network, look at how we have the best training facilities but not the quality in coaches, look at our poor injuries records and the lack of physios, look at the side out on the pitch. Laughing stock is putting it kindly.
