Erik Lamela
« on: July 12, 2014, 03:21:15 AM »
Erik Lamela is determined to show what he can do next season – especially for the fans.

The Argentine international’s first season at the club was hampered by injury and a back problem curtailed his season early - his last appearance against Stoke on December 29.
However, he’s worked hard all summer and was fit to take his place when pre-season training began on Saturday - the squad’s first session with our new Head Coach and Erik’s compatriot, Mauricio Pochettino.
“I feel really good,” said Erik, who made 17 appearances for us in the first half oif the season, scoring once. “I feel fit and I hope it will be a good season ahead.
“I hope to show everyone what I can do, especially for the fans and of course for the club. I’m grateful to the fans for their affection, that’s very important for me.
“Hopefully I will get the chance to play and then I will try and perform as well as I can.”

Hear hear hope this lad comes good.

I have no idea what a DDOS attack is but it sounds a bit like a girl with large breasts attacking us? Is there any video of the attack as i would like to watch that one day?

Its going to be like having a new signing, keen to impress and make their mark.  I feel he has a new desire to prove a point and under Pochettino perhaps given new belief as well.
THFC "COYS" and that is all I have to say about that!

At least he is with a manager that understands him. I am sure our new coach will get the best out of him.

I believe Lamela could well turn into our own Cristiano Ronaldo (minus the diving, winking etc). When Ronaldo joined Manchester United, his first season was pretty poor. He picked himself up and take a look at him now. I see similarities between these two...

Having watched the game against Seattle on Sun Morning (Australian Time), when he came on in the second half, he looked pretty good, he was prepared to run at the defence and more importantly his delivery of crosses looked pretty good, bearing in mind this was his first showing in about 6 mths I thought it was pretty good and maybe just maybe we will start to see him reach his potential. So come on you doubters give the Lad a chance!! :nods: :nods: :nods:

I'll go along with that, and, now he has a manager that speaks his language and a compatriot. I am glad we never sold him. One season doesn't make a poor player.

You lot are in cookoo land if you think h will turn out to be our Christiano!, you place far to much faith in him, ive seen him play several times now and he is shocking for  35M, ive never liked him from the start, not because he had one bad game but because he gets knocked of the ball to easy his control is no where near good enough and most of all his body language lacks any self belief, he has no real pace and does not have that killer instinct to go and show us anything of real amazement, to compare him with Ronaldo is crackers.when we had Bale he was out going and always trying to make the runs etc, Lamela is far to negative for a forward player, I would sooner spend more time and effort on Chadli who shows forward thinking and attacking intent.

As I said Give the Lad a chance, how could you possibly have seen him play several times? he started only 17 games last season, most of which were in Europa League, a fair percentage of which possibly were in away games. :o :o I agree he did look lightweight, :nods: he is a year older and looks to have filled out a bit, given the opportunities, which I think Pochettino will give him, I think you may well be proved wrong. I seem to remember that there were some doubters when Bale first joined Spurs and we all know the player that he became, so as I said give the lad a fair go.   :nods: :nods: :nods:

Unless we can get what we paid back for him, which is doubtful, then I think he deserves another season, under a new manager, who will hopefully get the best out of him, and hopefully he will be fitter, stronger and more confident this season.

For me, we are already starting to do  the right things, in shifting the deadwood out. Gomes, Livermore, maybe Siggy, Dawson, Rose, Naughton Lennon, etc, all of which means that we can afford to give Lamela the benefit of the doubt.

Sure, if he fails under Pochettino then he will have to go, but until and if that happens, the serial underperformers are the reason we are underachieving, not Lamela.

He was made man of the match in the ratings yesterday, so a good sign I think

He had a good game in Canada and I do expect a good season from him this season. As I said somewhere else on this forum; I am getting a good feeling with what our new manager is doing at Spurs. All the players seem very positive.

I stayed up to watch it and for the first time he was wanting the ball all the time  had good movement and scored two good goals and should have had a first half hatrick so if continues to show that amount of comitment every game then he may win me over, Best performance yet by far

Erik Lamela is one of my favourite players. He did not have a very good season last year but I do think this season he will shine. He is a talented player and you do not lose that overnight. I am hoping that he is the new Bale. If I remember rightly when Bale started he never set the league alight, as he did later. I also believe that Soldado will be another one that improves, providing he is given the chance.
