Dimexi,
I for One appreciate your reasoning, and your arguments are sound and make a lot of sense, unlike some, but I must warn you that the person that you have proved wrong is more than likely going to label you a Boo-boy, and will no doubt try and find some way to ridicule you for having the audacity to argue against him. he thinks that he is the VOICE of everyone on this site, and clearly he is not.

 :2funny: :2funny: :2funny:

Why would I label him a Boo boy? He is not you. He does make some good points, however, I don't agree with them and I think if Harry stayed we wouldn't have progressed any further. I am not alone in that thought. Of course there is not way of proving  his point, as there is no way of proving my point.  Nevertheless Levy sacked him and I agree. End of. Now we move on and support our new manager. Only time will tell if he is better than Harry or not.

PS I stick by with what I said to Dimexi.
I’ve lived a life that’s full. I’ve travelled each and every highway;
And more, much more than this,
I did it my way.

Regrets, I’ve had a few;
But then again, too few to mention.
I did what I had to do
And saw it through without exemption.

I respect your right to disagree with me and I am glad you didn't attempt label me a boo boy either.

Putting a lot of the rhetoric to one side I would just like to conclude this with a specific issue of disagreement. You have stated that you believe that if Harry stayed we wouldn't have progressed any further. If we put to one side other factors like available transfer funds, Levy's issues with who was in charge and more popular, the England job and everything else. But we agree that he would have kept us where we were, which was in the top 4 clubs. (This cannot be disputed because his record showed that he achieved this 66% of the time).

So staying in this position is deemed as not successful enough and lacking the desire to go beyond this level. You would like to see us achieve more, to be a full title contender?

I think I can speak for every Spurs fan and say that they would like to see that happen too. I would love to see spurs as champions in my lifetime. If we are seriously going to set our goal as winning the title then getting rid of Harry may have been necessary. However, if that is the only factor that is going to change, we will end up being disappointed and therefore sacking Harry did not need to be done. I hope that the other necessary steps are also being taken and that we are able to do this without risking our financial stability.

Maybe next year...

Certain fans go on about Harry Redknapp and how they would like him back or how he is a great manager. But on a closer look at his record he certainly isn’t of title winning material.

At every club he has been too he has never had a winning ratio above 49.5%.
Club    Period    Win ratio

Tottenham   Oct 2008 - Jun 2012   49.5%
Portsmouth   Dec 2005 - Oct 2008   42.5%
Southampton   Dec 2004 - Dec 2005   26.5%
Portsmouth   Mar 2002 - Nov 2004   46.5%
West Ham   Aug 1994 - May 2001   37%
Bournemouth   Oct 1983 - Jun 1992   39.39%

Harry Redknapp is good at getting clubs out of trouble. That is why he was called in at Spurs and that is why he was called in at QPR. But beyond that he isn’t Title winning quality. Levy brought him in as a stopgap.

His record shows that he isn't and wasn’t suitable material for Spurs. We’ve had a few sacking this season and not one other club came in for Harry, why? Yes, QPR came in for him to do the job that he was brought into Spurs for. So that they can keep their Premier League status. Beyond that he doesn’t have the talent.

Redknapp is good with the media and that is why he suckers people in. Just like Venables. Another one cut from the same cloth. His record was even worse than Redknapp’s (winning ratio: 40.85%). Neither good enough for a club like Spurs to challenge for the title or be able to win the European Championship trophy.

From what I’ve seen – so far – of AVB he will take Spurs further than either Venables or ‘Arry were capable of.

Against the same sides last year we had 2 more points, and were one position hire. You may like the idiot that is charge of us now, personally I would like a real manager. As well as all that, the football we were watching was entertaining, and now it's s**te.

He should have insisted on a top striker and CB last January instead of Saha and Nelson,

And you think he didn't, and you really believe they were his first choice. You can only spend the money the chairman gives you, and our chairman has a squeaky arse !!

To be fair to bald bloke, he does have a point. Harry actually said he wanted Teves and Cahill in that window, but ended up with Says and Nelson. Can only spend what the chairman gives ya.

Still think bald bloke is a troll though.   ;)

Was it not 'Arry Redknapp that got us to 4th place, the first manager to do this in the history of the Premier League !!! Oh crikey I forgot then he did it again 2 years later !!!!
Was it not 'Arry Redknapp that took us to the quarter finals of the Champions League at his first attempt only the great Bill Nicholson had taken us further in this competition (before you say anything the original European Cup)
Was it not 'Arry Redknapp that realised Gareth Bale's potential and played him as a winger and helped to make him the World Class player he is today !!!
Was it not 'Arry Redknapp that got us playing a free flowing exciting and effective brand of football that all and sundry raved about including Sir Alex Ferguson and many many of the worlds football pundits !!!!
Was it not 'Arry Redknapp that helped put our club back on the map again all over Europe by doing all of the above !!!!!

Well voice when you've achieved a 100th of that then come back and maybe then someone might listen too you !!!!!

Personally I think 'Arry had more to give to our club and would of acheived something great given the same backing that is now being given to AVB but alas we will never find out !!!!!

I agree that we were in the top 4 (and I gave the reasons why) but I do believe it wouldn’t have lasted. That is why we needed somebody else to take us in another direction. As for available transfer funds. Apart from this season we spent more than some of the top 4 clubs. If Levy is to be blamed for anything it is picking the wrong managers. When he picked Harry he picked him in the view of getting us out of relegation. He picked our current manager to take us to the next level. Let us hope this time he got it right.

Yes, and I think we have the structure to do it.

I agree on your synopsis to a point but I do think things will change. And I am hoping that will happen with our current manager. If not and we can’t go no further then maybe we should have stayed with Harry. But I think the sacking showed Levy’s determination to go further.

To me the way we play is secondary to winning trophies. We must give up the past and think of the future. In fact I would go one step further and say, yes, let us look at our past and what we've achieved then look at this new world. Our philosophy now must be "winning".

It is not a case of liking the manager but can he take us to the next step?

True, we will never know what he wouldn't have achieved. However, I am glad I didn't have to find out that I was right. Whatever he could have done or wouldn't have done we have got to look at the future and hope that AVB takes us to another level.

Again you are right that I started this thread about Harry (or looking backwards). I can never be proved wrong, at the same token you can't be proved right. But what we can do is unite and hope that AVB takes Spurs to even higher position than Redknapp could.

You might not like what I say about 'Arry but we share one thing in common (I hope); we both want Spurs to win trophies and go higher than they previously have done in the Premiership/ League. We are currently 4th in the League, with the same amount of points as 3rd place. Ten points behind the leaders and 7 points behind Second place.

Against the same sides last year we had 2 more points, and were one position hire. You may like the idiot that is charge of us now, personally I would like a real manager. As well as all that, the football we were watching was entertaining, and now it's s**te.

Enough said I think

You know I will not let you get away with making claims on here without me checking them myself.  ;)

As it turns out you were incorrect...we are actually 3 points worse off, LOL!

What is worse is that after the same number of games played last year we had 34 points, which was and is title challenging form. The problem is that our win% dropped drastically from 75% end of November to 52% at the end of the season. The actual win % each month to achieve that drop reads:

Nov - 100%
Dec - 50%
Jan - 60%
Feb - 33%
March - 0%
April -40%
May - 66%

So although your reference to last year is valid it is only by looking at the year as a whole that we can tell the whole story. If AVB is able to have a consistent win % until the end of the season I would expect us to be 3rd or 4th. However, this could change for the worse and we end up in your predicted 8th or it could be better. (but I still think 3rd is as high as we could achieve this year, but the gap would be closer.

Maybe next year...

There is no doubt that we won't finish in the top 2 (unless tragedy hits one of the two teams), but I agree with your prediction that we could finish 3rd and definitely 4th; of course this also depends on injuries etc. But I believe we have the squad to finish at least 3rd.
