I have never understood, how we go from loving a player to hating them so quickly. We must remember that these players do not have the same love or loyalty to the club that we do. They do not support the clubs they play for, usually. They are workers, just like you and me. people change jobs all the time. I am sorry but if I was offered the chance to double or triple my salary, I would do what was necessary to make that happen. The idea that these players owe us, is ridiculous.

Modric said he wanted to leave last year. We managed to keep him, knowing that this year he would leave. It is now just a question of getting the right price for him. If that price is not met, it is down to Levy to decide whether to lower his demands or refuse. If that happens and Modric agrees to play and does so at the required level, which I think he would, then there is no problem.

The only player I thought badly of, because of how he left the club and let the supporters down, was he who should not be named but u can stick him up your Ars3.

Spot on really. He's Croation, brought up in a war zone, earning shed loads of money because he's a good footballer. So the contract he signed that keep him with us until 2016 is worthless just because he wants to bugger off and earn more, so why sign in teh first place???  To milk a higher wage for a year then go on strike when another club wants him who is offering more..... At least at spurs we did not allow that to happen, we were able to tie him to a longer contract probably under the agreement that he could leave if we did not get CL the following season. Actually do you think it is morally okay to force someone to continue to work for someone, against their will? Surely it is also immoral to say that someone is not allowed to seek a higher salary, surely everyone is entitled to that freedom.

I know this may be tough for you, but seriously try to imagine what you would do in his shoes, not as a spurs supporter but as a professional footballer?

You lot are priceless listen too yourselves Luca Modric has been an absolute superstar for us and is trying to improve himself further unfortunately due to our Chairmans Short sightedness and lack of ambition in failing to back the last manager he is now going to lose one of his prize assets !!!
 
There is absolutely no reason to be abusive or hold anything against Luca Modric players are bought and sold that is how the football club balances its books ..... remember this my Levy you reap exactly what you sow, and whatever you said last year is now coming back to bite you on the arse !!!!!

So a player who is under a long-term contract can simply go AWOL? That's interesting. If he wants to leave, he can submit a request and when Spurs' valuation of him is met, he can pack his bags. Simply not turning up to work is awfully unprofessional. After going AWOL he is on the same level with Berbastard who also used to be a fantastic player for us. Another prime example of player power... And I think what makes people even more bitter towards him, is the fact that he used to be a nice and down-to-earth lad. So much of that then...

Were you in his office? I don't think so. As you have a right to bash Levy (and I personally don't think any good of him), other fans have their right to call Modrić names. The fact is that he signed a contract until 2016 (and not very long ago). Things would be simpler had he not signed such a long contract.

The thing here is Modric could be in breach of contract by his actions. There was a huge kerfuffle over in North America over a similar issue involving hockey goaltender Tim Thomas, and he had to put up with very much the same thing in response. Regardless of one's background or where one has come from, if you sign a contract, you should be ready to honour it - or else don't sign the bleedin' contract! Going AWOL is not honouring a contract.

Now do I agree with the intensity of the abuse Modric (and Tim Thomas) have had to put up with? No - I seldom, if at all, do in these situations. But I can kind of see the reasoning behind the existence of the abuse.

Look I agree that whilst he is under contract he should turn up for work if he wants to be paid. If he does not show, then he is not paid. Not that complicated if you ask me.

I do not think that his stance does him any favours, I do not support his actions either. He would have a higher moral standing with the spurs supporters had he not taken this action. But I do think that there must be a reason why he is taking this action now. He was in exactly the same position last year but did not behave in this way. What has changed? It is not just the desire to earn more money, that is still the same.

The big difference here is that there is no Harry either giving him good advice or just being someone he does not want to let down. He does not have that same loyalty to AVB or Levy.

And there is a difference between him and Berbatov, because Modric gave us another year and played well during it too. Now I do not know what promises were or were not made to him by Levy, but Maybe the Harry departure was the final straw.
