I dont like or dislike Levy. I just see him as the person charged with the job of moving Tottenham onwards and upwards.
4 years ago he brought Harry to the club, and we all know how good things have been generally since then.
However, if, for whatever reason, Levy thinks that Harry is not the person to take Spurs to the next level of competing regularly with MU MC Chelsea and Ars*nal, as well as in Europe, then surely he has the right in his position to make that decision ? Never mind that half the club's supporters seem to think its the wrong decision.
Until AVB has been given time to bring in the players he feels can achieve his aims, then it is pointless to keep up this barrage of unnecessary criticism.
If at the end of the season we have gone backwards, then fair enough Levy will be expected to take the blame, and rightly so.
Just dont forget that we also went backwards from February onwards this season.
Levy has made mistakes for sure. Everybody, Ferguson included makes mistakes. But the secret is learning from them. Levy may yet prove his doubters wrong.

I am totally behind Daniel Levy 100%. He has made mistakes. He has learnt from them. He is responsible for the club being in the healthy financial state it is in, and is behind exciting new plans for the future. He will not let people push him around and he is not scared of upsetting people if a decision has to be made. Those old enough may remember Alan Sugar making decisions that didn't please some people, but he was right in making those decisions and in the case of the sacking of Harry, Daniel Levy is also right. Harsh reality is Harry was brought in to do a particular job, which he did with credit, but Harry is not capable of taking us to the next stage. Levy knows this so he has acted. I honestly believe Daniel Levy is the BEST chairman we could possibly have!!!!

Spot on both Colspur66 & RSS61. We have to trust Levy & AVB. I am absolutelu gutted to read negative posta from our fellow Spurs fans above. They have already got our club relegated to the 2nd division or playing Pub sides on Sunday afternoon!

You base this statement on what evidence, 'Arry never had millions to spend on transfers and wages and managed to get us to 4th, 5th, 4th and the quarter finals of the Champions League beating both Milan sides !!!!
Also every pundit and football person was 100% behind him for the England managers job, funny a talentless manager with limited tactical knowledge could manage all this !!!

This is what gets my back up everybody just accepts the fact that Levy can do as he pleases and it's right !! If 'Arry was given the backing that AVB is getting then I bet a pound to a pinch of s**t that 'Arry would do a better job and no I don't have any hard proof of this but I just look at the last 3 seasons !!!

Now Levy is taking a punt on man that was run out of Chelski by player power, a fledgling assistant manager that has no league experience and a coach no one has ever heard of, you tell me who isn't capable !!!

I think Levy had his nose put out of joint by 'Arry doing a far better job than he expected and 'Arry was becoming bigger in the club than Levy so he decides to protect his own arse and get rid of 'Arry before it's too late !!!!

Now we have a bunch of no ones in charge of one England's biggest Clubs all hoping to prove themselves and your all happy about it, I for one and sad and disappointed that we only managed to get AVB our club needs to be there at the forefront not nurse maiding a hopefull !!!!

I don't know how old you are, how long you have been supporting Spurs, how often you go to the games or where you live, but let me put you straight.

Harry was by far the best manager Spurs have had since the start of the prem. I believe he could have taken us the extra mile if Levy had of released some money. Arry on average had a net spend of only £12m a year, which I am sure you would agree was peanuts in prem terms. We will never know why he was sacked, but I can assure you that it had nothing to do with what happened on the pitch. If this had to be, it had to be. However to recruit probably the worst manager I have ever seen set foot on English soil is unforgivable. I am not interested in Chelsea politics, but I can tell you if a decent manager had taken over there, Chelsea would have finished above us in the league. Remember, this is the same man that recruited, Jack Santini and Ramos. Levy knows about money, but nothing about football, Spurs, and it's supporters !!

Secondly, did you REALLY think it was good idea for us to move to Stratford and lose our routes, especially taking into consideration the grief we give Ars*nal for being a bunch of travelling Pikeys ?

Ugs and Baldbloke.

Where do I start.

I am 46 and have been a Spurs supporter from the age of about 6. I have had a season ticket from the age of 14. I grew up in Ilford, East London, but for the last 12 years I have lived in Colchester and make a 120 mile round trip to every home game.

Lets start with what I agree with. Harry WAS our best manager in the premier league so far, and I was totally against any proposed move to Stratford. A lot of time, money and effort was wasted on the Stratford idea.

I really can't understand the blind loyalty to Harry. If he had been offered the England job he was gone without a second thought for Spurs. He as good as admitted it live on tv during the Euros. Incidently this was the night before his meeting with Daniel Levy and the board. Not very wise. His sacking had everything to do with events on the pitch. HE BLEW OUR CHAMPS LEAGUE PLACE BIG TIME. The board were VERY angry and disappointed with his tactics in the 1-1 draw at Villa Park, a game that could have put us in 3rd place going into our last game against Fulham. I'm sure I don't need to tell you the events of the Villa game. Don't get me wrong I liked Harry, but he is a people person, a motivator. A tactician he is not. Harry's use of squad players could also be brought into question at times.
In Harry's defence I will say that I believe poor refereeing decisions cost us in my estimation 7 points last season but this doesn't detract from the fact that our cup final was the Villa game and Harry bottled it.

Most of the country was wanting Harry as England manager, including myself and I think you will find so were the Spurs board of directors!

I think that Harry wasn't given large amounts of money to spend because firstly it wasn't readily available and secondly  the board didn't trust him to spend it wisely. He was after all contemplating players such as Beckham, Anelka, Drogba, players that are/were good players but would have demanded high outlay and no return. Financial decision maybe, but that is why our club is in a healthy financial position.

As someone else has previously said maybe on another thread, AVB can't possibly be the worst manager ever in the prem cos when he left Chelsea they were in 5th place!

At the time Ramos was appointed he was a highly sought after manager. His problem at Spurs was in trying to make wholesale changes immediately and in not being able to speak English.

Every interview I have seen or read from any of our players so far seems to suggest that they are all behind AVB and are welcoming his ideas in training and they are all enjoying pre season training. The players seem to be supporting the new manager so I find it staggering that some fans aren't!

I will admit I had never heard of AVB's assistant, but I am very happy to have someone as enthusiastic as Stefan Feund on the coaching staff. He is someone who has the club at heart and is very well thought of in his role with the German FA.

At the end of the day Levy is the man who makes the decisions wether we like it or not. I personally have complete faith in him.

My problem is not that Levy sacked Redknapp my problem is that he hasn't replaced him with a superior manager.
Redknapp was taking us places and admittedly he would of gone to England given the chance, again I have no issue with that.
The biggest problem we have is that Levy has cart blanche in the power stakes and dosen't know football and if someone stands up to him he removes them, that isn't healthy.
As for the new appointment I can only think of one worse one in my 45 years of supporting Spurs and that was Christian Gross and I really do believe that AVB has the potential to be another Gross!! We are a massive club one of England's finest and I whole heartedly and honestly believe we as supporters deserve better than AVB, Freund and the unheard of coach !!

I fully agree with your first sentence, however by the time of the January window, Levy was aware of the huge public support for Harry to get the England job. Are you seriously saying that he should have spent maybe 30 million on 2 players that Harry wanted, given that he was probably already making a shortlist of candidates for the managers post. There is no way that he was going to do that, given that Harry had probably indicated that he wouldn't commit himself to Spurs. Our moves in the transfer market so far would seem to show that he is serious about bringing in new players, younger players of the kind needed to change our way forwards.

There has to be a very good reason why he was sacked.

Most of what you say is true, however I disagree with your interpretation of events.

After Levy's attempt to move us to Stratford, and his refusal to return any of my letters, he will never get my full support. Harry was never sacked because we failed to get into the CL. Nobody could have predicted Chelsea were gong to beat Barca and Biarn. I was at Villa in the day you mention and can't for one minute explain Arry's decision to bring on Scotty instead of DeFoe. Arry wasn't the greatest tactician, nor was he the worlds best manager. The fact he waould have taken the England job hardly makes him a Judas. What English manager wouldn't have done so ?. Like UGS, I can live with Arry's departure, it's the employment of a manager that failed so badly at Chelsea that upsets me. With regards to the Arry signings, I have to disagree also. I believe Arry was forced into buying old has beens because Levy wouldn't release the cash to buy better players. You on the other hand believe it was part of Arry's strategy. We will have to agree to disagree on that one.

Anyway, only time will tell, but I'm not feeling confident at all !!

There has to be a very good reason why he was sacked.

So what about building the squad for the next manager and keeping some kind of continuity... and from what I've heard 'Arry wanted Cahill and Tevez, surely those two would of enhanced the squad.
Correct me if I'm wrong but Levy deals with all the transfer deals anyway so ultimately he would sanction whoever we got in and probably decide on viable deals anyway... so I blame Levy for Saha and Nelson not 'Arry !!!!!
I think you'll find the reason that 'Arry was sacked was because he was getting too popular and if Levy had backed him and we had finished 3rd then there was no way he could of dropped him like he did .... only my thoughts but I think Levy basically stabbed 'Arry in the back for being honest !!!!!

I think thats touching on the ridiculous, don't you ? There were far deeper reasons for their falling out I'm sure. Levy wants us to be the best just like we all so. Whether his methods will work remains to be seen.
