Ugs and Baldbloke.
Where do I start.
I am 46 and have been a Spurs supporter from the age of about 6. I have had a season ticket from the age of 14. I grew up in Ilford, East London, but for the last 12 years I have lived in Colchester and make a 120 mile round trip to every home game.
Lets start with what I agree with. Harry WAS our best manager in the premier league so far, and I was totally against any proposed move to Stratford. A lot of time, money and effort was wasted on the Stratford idea.
I really can't understand the blind loyalty to Harry. If he had been offered the England job he was gone without a second thought for Spurs. He as good as admitted it live on tv during the Euros. Incidently this was the night before his meeting with Daniel Levy and the board. Not very wise. His sacking had everything to do with events on the pitch. HE BLEW OUR CHAMPS LEAGUE PLACE BIG TIME. The board were VERY angry and disappointed with his tactics in the 1-1 draw at Villa Park, a game that could have put us in 3rd place going into our last game against Fulham. I'm sure I don't need to tell you the events of the Villa game. Don't get me wrong I liked Harry, but he is a people person, a motivator. A tactician he is not. Harry's use of squad players could also be brought into question at times.
In Harry's defence I will say that I believe poor refereeing decisions cost us in my estimation 7 points last season but this doesn't detract from the fact that our cup final was the Villa game and Harry bottled it.
Most of the country was wanting Harry as England manager, including myself and I think you will find so were the Spurs board of directors!
I think that Harry wasn't given large amounts of money to spend because firstly it wasn't readily available and secondly the board didn't trust him to spend it wisely. He was after all contemplating players such as Beckham, Anelka, Drogba, players that are/were good players but would have demanded high outlay and no return. Financial decision maybe, but that is why our club is in a healthy financial position.
As someone else has previously said maybe on another thread, AVB can't possibly be the worst manager ever in the prem cos when he left Chelsea they were in 5th place!
At the time Ramos was appointed he was a highly sought after manager. His problem at Spurs was in trying to make wholesale changes immediately and in not being able to speak English.
Every interview I have seen or read from any of our players so far seems to suggest that they are all behind AVB and are welcoming his ideas in training and they are all enjoying pre season training. The players seem to be supporting the new manager so I find it staggering that some fans aren't!
I will admit I had never heard of AVB's assistant, but I am very happy to have someone as enthusiastic as Stefan Feund on the coaching staff. He is someone who has the club at heart and is very well thought of in his role with the German FA.
At the end of the day Levy is the man who makes the decisions wether we like it or not. I personally have complete faith in him.
