This is the first manager for many many years I am sad to see go. All the other managers had run out of ideas or were plain and simply rubbish.
As much as I despise Levy, I agree that to have given a 64 year old man a 4 year contract could have been financial stupidity. A 1 year rolling contract would have been best for both parties. That said, Arry knew if things went wrong, he would have an enormous final pay day with a 4 year contarct, and that's why they couldn't come to an agreement. In short, I think Arry wanted out.
As for the next manager, unfortunately I don't think there is anyone out there as good. I don't like foreign managers, as they rarely work at any club, and have never worked for Spurs. Santini, Ramos and Jol all had a go at getting us relegated, so hopefully levy has learnt his lesson. I can't think of anyone better than Moyes, but even that is an enormous risk. That said, why the hell would he want to join us. He is loved at Everton and has a great relationship with a humanistic chairman. Like it or not Everton are a club as big as ourselves with a recent record not to dissimilar. If he left Everton, he would be joining another club that would give him next to nothing to spend, and knowing his best players will shortly be leaving. As well as that his new boss is an out and out bar steward. In short, I haven't a clue where we go from here.
