Harry gone, not happy because he really did make a difference to us but happy enough as I do agree he had taken us as far as he could, however to be fair it's a far as any manager is going to get for a very long time. Cheers Arry.

I totally second that. With what we had when he took over, to where we are now has to be a defining moment in our Premier League history.

Unfortunately im pessimistic for the future, if some of our best players leave, we maybe looking at trying (being a good season) for the Europa for the next few seasons, with expectations out waying the playing staff.

I hope the next man is given time to build his own squad with the ashes of this one.

Thanks 'Arry, its really been fun.

I also feel that the next step is more than just a 'go out and win the game' type manager, but a man who is respected by players, has good man management, but also a tactician, more of a 'thinker'.

That could be David Moyes.....

Looks like he has certainly gone now with but still much speculation and denials.

Did us well for the 4 years but unfortunately our slump in form from February
onwards was a big disappointment to all including Levy and we cannot
hide the fact that the Manager generally  carries the can!!
Probably the tax affair and the England post were a major distraction.

Will be interested to see where he goes next and will miss his wheeling
and dealing but more importantly who will be coming to N17 ......Moyes.....?

At least its happened in June and not August.

"The Club can today announce that Harry Redknapp will be leaving his post as manager.

Chairman Daniel Levy commented, "This is not a decision the Board and I have taken lightly. Harry arrived at the Club at a time when his experience and approach was exactly what was needed. This decision in no way detracts from the excellent work Harry has done during his time with the Club and I should like to thank him for his achievements and contribution. Harry will always be welcome at the Lane."

Harry said, "I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at Spurs and am proud of my achievements. I have had a fantastic four years with the Club, at times the football has been breathtaking. I am sad to be leaving but wish to thank the players, staff and fans for their terrific support during my time there.""

To be honest I am just devastated.

All very good points. Someone had to take the can for us not finishing 3rd from our position in January, and as you say that has to be the manager, for not managing the players well enough through that period.

As you say, better to get it sorted now rather than in August.  And while we're at it, as soon as possible lets get Moyes in, for as I see it, there really is nobody else out there at this moment in time who has the experience to come in and sort out the likes of Modric Bale VDV Defoe etc.

What we do not want is to start 0-3 1-5 like last season. It has to be made very clear to al players concerned that if they do not want to be part of THFC then they can f**k off and we will find players who do want to play for this great club.

No one person is bigger than the club.

This is the first manager for many many years I am sad to see go. All the other managers had run out of ideas or were plain and simply rubbish.

As much as I despise Levy, I agree that to have given a 64 year old man a 4 year contract could have been financial stupidity. A 1 year rolling contract would have been best for both parties. That said, Arry knew if things went wrong, he would have an enormous final pay day with a 4 year contarct, and that's why they couldn't come to an agreement. In short, I think Arry wanted out.

As for the next manager, unfortunately I don't think there is anyone out there as good. I don't like foreign managers, as they rarely work at any club, and have never worked for Spurs. Santini, Ramos and Jol all had a go at getting us relegated, so hopefully levy has learnt his lesson. I can't think of anyone better than Moyes, but even that is an enormous risk. That said, why the hell would he want to join us. He is loved at Everton and has a great relationship with a humanistic chairman. Like it or not Everton are a club as big as ourselves with a recent record not to dissimilar. If he left Everton, he would be joining another club that would give him next to nothing to spend, and knowing his best players will shortly be leaving. As well as that his new boss is an out and out bar steward. In short, I haven't a clue where we go from here.
AVB OUT, AND TAKE LEVY WITH YOU

Thoughts and opinions?

2 Steps forward 3 steps backwards

Don't want boring Moyes, Tinkerman Benitez, Miserable git Cappello or any of the other has beens that are floating around looking for employment.

No one man is bigger than the club RSS talk to Mr Levy, any time he is slightly threatened he cuts the staff. Once again we are almost there (as we were with Jol) and Levy comes along and undermines the manager and low and behold we are in the s**te again !!!!

Mr Levy better have an absolute diamond of a appointment up his sleeve after this debarcle because he is really starting to test my loyalty to our great club, once again we are becoming a laughing stock !!!!

Guardiola would be my first choice and Slaven Billic my second

Over to you Mr Levy change my mind about you and the board and amaze me with your next appointment !!

I stand by my statement UGS. No one man is bigger than the club. Joe Lewis is the boss, Levy his chairman. If firing Redknapp proves a big mistake, then I reckon Levy will suffer the same result.

Bilić has already been named as the new manager of Lokomotiv Moscow (Pavlyuchenko's new club) and he'll take over after EURO 2012. I seriously doubt we'll get anyone better than Redknapp. Of course there are better managers but they won't come to Spurs.

This decision is an utter nonsense. I've wrote somewhere else, that if something is going well and promissive we have to spoil it, and I mean that. Not giving him a long contract for he's old? Ffs, was he young enough 3 years ago. How old is Hogdson or Fergusson? Are they still good enough for England and MU? I'm usually positive, but, imo, this move will cost us not only in far future, but already next season. Spurs will exist without Redknapp of course, but without Bale, VDV, and even Modric ( I think they will go now),  on the level we all don't want to see.
Thaks and good luck Harry.

Moyes would be the death of us. He doesn't inspire me so how is he going to inspire Bale, Modric etc. Stand well clear of the exits as the door will be opening fast and often. Last season we missed out on The Champions League next season hopefully we will miss out on The Championship but I wouldn't count on it. If Levy hasn't done the deal of the century we are well and truly screwed in my humble opinion.
