lets not get into a 'who's country was the biggest bar-steward to the rest of the world' contest.... not the most edifying

Jordan will be lucky and get off fairly unscathed.... but I'm sure he won't be doing 'it' again in a hurry, so the lesson is learnt..

I think you have mental problems if someone calling you a "f**king Italian bastard" is enough to make you completely lose control and attack them. Why would hearing that from someone on the coaching staff bother you more than hearing it from someone you're playing against? You're clutching at straws if you think that's any type of excuse. I don't believe it anyway. That's the type of thing a bratty child comes up with when they've been caught doing something wrong. "he started it!"

I'm sure people have come up with far more offensive things to say to him in the past.

'its a man's game' ??..... you really are a sad old dinosaur aren't you Ugsypoohs...

Sledging is part of the game but should be between the players, coaches etc should not be verbally abusing other team's players. But there are are limits to that too.... eg. racial abuse or even homophobic abuse should not be tolerated..

if Jordan racially abused him then that needs to be looked at..... I think it will too.

Who said anything about homophobic or racial abuse I was going to call you a c*nt !!!

Oh maybe I'm now being feminist !!!

Technically no I dont think they are. They might be Latins or something like that. The race card just get thrown in when all else fails these days. Saying you were abused for your nationality instead of because you are a cheat or a drama queen seems to justify any reponse no matter how extreme. Anyway Gattuso plays in centre midfield he was out in the middle of the pitch hanging on to Crouch's shirt most of the game. I think the San Siro holds about 80,000 souls. How on earth did he manage to hear one lone Scotsman abusing him from right out in the middle of all that lot.

relying on technicalities to get around whats really happened is a sad state of affairs...

whether you class Italian as a race or nationality is irrelevant, as its all about the intent of the impression made.... for example a Pakistani is usually a brown-Caucasian racially speaking, but the term P*ki (short for Pakistani) most certainly is meant as a racial slur...

also you have to take cultural nuances into consideration.... a high degree of vulgar and insulting statements may be classed as banter in Britain but taken in a far more serious way in other countries.... someone as old and 'mature' as Jordan who has lived in Italy even should have known where the accepted line is.... he probably did know, but deliberately crossed it to get a reaction from Gattuso...

you use the term 'bastard' at your peril in some countries, as its a heavy insult..... just 1 example.

But we're assuming that what he told his agent to tell the press after this already happened is what actually took place. I suppose if we're assuming that what his agent told the press about what Jordan said is actually the truth, we could look at other examples of players lashing out at people other than players.

A good example would be Cantona's incident. Look how seriously that was punished. Gareth, I suppose your point would be valid in this example because, whatever his name is, who Cantona attacked was banned for a period of time, fined and I think even went to jail. Cantona was suspended for months by United. Milan aren't going to suspend Gattuso at all.

It's Gattuso's word against Jordan's. Jordan has denied saying what he's accused of saying. I don't see any reason to assume that Gattuso is the one telling the truth. As I said before, it reminds me of a spoiled brat who has been caught doing something wrong.

It's just as - if not more - plausible that Jordan was yelling at the ref to get Gattuso (and others) under control and Gattuso took exception, sparking the confrontation.

sorry to bring this back up  but just seen the video of it again.

and i'm pretty sure Jordan didn't say anything racist or what ever.

if you watch the video, Cudicini was right next to Jordan and one of the first to defend him.

now why would an Italian defend him if he said something about Italians  8D
