I understand where alot of you are coming from saying, we have come along way.

But this season more than any, i think its Vital for us to finish in the CL places again.

If not it could be like 1 step forward and 2 steps back.

Look what happened to Liverpool in the space of a year.

yeah we have come a long but we could easally go back to the way we was.

If there was ever a time to spend big, i think it was this transfer window just gone, just to try and secure another season in the CL

because if we don't who knows what will happen, we could potentially lose players like VDV and Bale if we don't get in the Champions league again

At least we know there is money in the kitty(With the apparent bid for Aguero ), and i think we  don't recieve Champion League money  till the end of the season.

This summer is going to be so important. Need to get in the player in the summer nice and early. I know what you mean Biggs, we need to show a statment of intent.

But I'm glad we didn't splash out money last night for the sake of it. As good as the spanish strikers we were linked with are, will any of them fit in to the system? Harry seem to have warm to the 1 up front with VDV playing as the 2nd striker. Apart from Carroll the other seemed like names pulled out of a hat.

Last night there was no value. Forlan for £17M for a 31 yr old. Rossi £30M?? can he have imporved so much since his Manu days, to justify that. No disrespect to Rossi, but for £30M i want a very top player(Someone who has played at international level and proven). As we can see with the crap that Man C has bought just because a player is valued at £20~30M doesn't mean they are any good.

How would we feel if we panic buy a  £30m striker that turn out to be a pile of S**t.

Wasn't Barca only offering £30m for the services For Cesc in the summer? Carroll isn't nowhere as influential as Cesc at the moment.

Thats exactly what i was saying Biggs...that was our chance to get the players in that would take us to the next level and we couldnt get anybody...watch us going backwards now, next season and the season after to being a mid-table team again.

Pieboy...you started off so well in my delicate affections and have now started the move south... please desist forthwith..

1) vdV will be played mostly from RM in future, as he has the last few games... I think even Arry has now seen that we dont have the right type of forward to play as a specific lone-striker in front of him... the closest is Pav and hes no great shakes as a loney...

2) there was no value in yesterday's market for a decent striker... but I think you do sometimes have to bite the bullet and pay over the odds occcasionally... but not to the extent of Liverpoo for Andycapp Carroll..... Rossi certainly has developed since he was a mere teenager at Utd, he was very young then.... bagged a hatrick at WHL as I recall in Pre-Season... and has scored high quality goals very regularly in Spain, has good pace and technique, still vey young...probably worth 30m if anyone we chased is...

3) Europa League really isnt so bad.... even this year, theres been plenty of big glamourous clubs in it.... if we can play with style I wouldnt mind us being outside Top4...

4) Bale is as good as gone methinks.... hence the big bids yesterday.... Levy knows theres a big cheque on the way this summer.... Andros Townsend  11/12  =  sorted.

That really is the icing on the cake there from you!

You dont want us in the champions league with all the money it brings ect ect...you just want us playing good style football outside the top 4...absurd statment.

CL brings in alot of dosh, but you also have to put out alot of dosh to stay in it year after year.... unless youre Ars*nal of course..

I'd prefer us in the CL regularly and playing with style.... but if its 1 or t'other, I'd rather watch us in the Europa League and playing like we did against Chelsea at the Lane recently... 4-4-2, great movement, 1-2 touch passing with pace...

Europa League may be better.... if it gives us the breathing space to relax, play with abit of swagger and ... very important.... allow ourselves the luxury of gametime to develop young players eg. Townsend, Bostock and a few others..

IMO it is not lack of ambition, but lack of planning.

Why did we wait until Dec to start negotiations with Becks camp?  Why do we always look like a farce on deadline day?

Frank Arnesens contract is up after this season at Chelsea.  I think we should reappoint him.

It was his role that dragged us out of the dark days.  He headhunted Jol, and pushed for him to be coach when Santini went peculiar.

I have no idea what a DDOS attack is but it sounds a bit like a girl with large breasts attacking us? Is there any video of the attack as i would like to watch that one day?

According to SSN , Harry said we put in record bids for Aguero, Rossi and Forlan. So we obviously went for the Big Signing but failed. Definlty not a lack of ambition, maybe it was over ambitious that caused us not to bring in any body.  as Harry was quoted himself
"There was never a chance of getting him really, was there? "It sounded good but it wasn't going to happen."

sell Bale, sell Modric.... start blooding players like Townsend, Bostock and even Parrett.....

Europa Cup is a fun tournament, playing teams with exciting new players not often seen on British TV, and not caring if you get knocked out or not.... the perfect scenario to develop new players eg. Andros, Bostock, Parrett, Naughton, Adam Smith etc...

if we get CL again, I can live with that as it means Al Citeh probably won't and that will make my day..

but its now unlikely due to our striking imbalance, particularly with the cookoo in the nest Vaart.... so looking at the bigger picture... something intelligent people are actually able to do.... with the new stadium plan to implement and the costs involved there, allied to the very exciting young talent we already have here, players already mentioned, and the added bonus of watching 15 odd extra games on ESPN, Channel5 for 'free'....on balance, I wouldnt be at all miffed with 5th-7th in the Prem this season....

lets all hope Ars*nal can win the League Cup and guarantee an extra place for the Europa League next season
