This is for sure Jenas' chance to shine... let hope he cuts how his in-consistence performances.

For me, Jenas' best performance is by far the Inter milan win. Which back up my point about him, he is far better at going forward than he is at dropping off... when he came on for vdv and played behind crouch.

I always thought Jenas should be a Lampard/Gerrard type player... I.e get forward more, rather than sit like a Gareth Barry type

I agree that Jenas can support the attack well WHEN GIVEN LICENSE TO....

but when you have Modric or even THudd next to you in CM, Jenas will inevitably be the one told to mind the shop and play the more defensive role.... cos he CAN and the other 2 can't really do so that well..

I disagree that he has to prove himself, as to me he's always been as consistent as anyone else.... its just that the fans dont really pick up on his play off the ball which is still so invaluable to the team and that teammates and coaches can appreciate..

his influence will manifest itself best in the smoother running of the team when moving from defence to attack and back again...

I agree, that Jenas won't be able to get forward with Modric in the side, will leave us to open.

In all fairness, you would say that. He's your favourite player  :)

he's 1 of my top Spurs players..

but its really about the BALANCE of the team that I look at, and Jenas brings that to the midfield...

we just need to get the balance right upfront in January, and we are cooking..

Top3.

Why are we assuming that Jenas is going to get a chance, 'Arry may well play Palacious or Sandro in the middle to add 'balance' and allow Modric to go forward. Or Jenas may get the nod and if he does then I hope he plays very well and things work well but in the games I've seen in recent months he's been poor and very inconsistent(to be fair the other 2 haven't ripped up any trees either !!!!). Recently he's taken to throwing himself to the floor to try and influence the referee which is a stupid thing to do with the talent in our attacking line up that he could be helping by playing intelligently. Only time will tell but one things for sure we are going to miss Tom !!!!!

Jenas has played many a good game this season already.... Bremen, Villa, Inter at WHL and last Saturday vs Blackbum are just 4 to spring to mind recently..

he has been as consistent as any other CM.... but you dont mention the others' inadequacies...

PS - and wasnt it the great Modric himself who got booked for simulation last game ??

Jamie O'Hara just said on twitter that he is about 60% fit at the moment and is looking for a return in January! Really nice guy Jamie when i met him and i hope he makes a return to the side as soon as possible! Would love to see him get a chance this year, he is great in a tackle, has a good engine, can pass and is passionate. When on loan at Pompey last season he brilliant.

I really too hope that O'Hara is fully-fit asap, so that we can sell him in January..

a good enough player for the Pompeys of the world.... nowhere even close to Top4 calibre tho..

Gotta give him a try though Gareth. Give him a few chances and then see if he stays or not. Just saying this because his wife is hot~!

Wrongly. I did see your boy do his usual and burst through the defense full of hope, vigor, and promise only to fall down in the box. Think I called that one. Oh, ohhh, OHHHHHH!!!.......err, ....ewwww.
Mr. Anticlimax. Gotta love him. Or in your case Mr. Premature I bet.

I see that you managed to turn yet another thread into a Modric / Jenas debate. You keep mentioning JJ's superb play off the ball but have blinders on to the fact that Modric has a knack for positioning himself well enough to intercept passes cleanly with regularity.
He's strained his left adductor muscle it says. Whats that then ? Do we all have those or just footballers ? I wonder how mine are ? *courtesy of taimedowne*

Jenas has to usually break from a deeper position to when Modric does.... and if others dont make themselves available and hes surrounded by 3-4 opponents then its likely he, or anyone else, will lose possession..

I agree that Modric is good at intecepting balls....WHEN he doesnt have to run too much to get into the right position.... trouble is that's only half the scenario overall..

glad Jenas will now have 2-3 months uninterrupted play, without the rabble booing him for 'stealing' THudd's place...

Since Hudders is out for quite a long time. I do hope your Jenas shines Gareth. If he can return to his old form under Ramos then ill join your Jenas wagon.

If I were Jamie, I'd probably be getting a DNA test to make sure it's actually my baby!

Ha! Imagine if when she gives birth the baby comes out the spitting image of another footballer.
