The fact that Woody is out hardly surprises anyone. Everything is not lost for him, though. He is injured and it is not known whether his injury was a success. If the injury cured his problem then he definitely needs some months to become fit again. He could be back in the squad by January if someone else gets injured or would be sold.
All in all I am happy with our squad especially because we were not desperately trying to offload anyone and only bought one player who could actually be a good piece of business and not a panic buy.

with Gallas here now, I'd prefer Woodgate to remain outta the picture indefinately..

as for Modric in the team, if he does play regularly then he plays as a CM.... with THudd there too I'd prefer a more robust solid fellow CM like Palacios, possibly Sandro as 1st-choice regular.... so Modric will be left to play when THudd is rested/injured..

makes sense to sell him soon if other clubs sense he aint getting regular footy, and bid anything over 18m.... I like Modric as he's a very skillful footballer but he has too many flaws as a CM in a 4-4-2...

Hypothetical Question: Isn't this whole 25 man squad thing in combination with the transfer window borderline illegal? I mean if you are fit (or there is a chance that you may get fit say by end of October, Early November and you club doesn't name you in their 25) does the the transfer window's restrictions not technically qualify as restriction of trade? you cannot ply your trade at your current place of employment and you cannot seek meaningful employ elsewhere....
