Lennon's Injury
« on: March 16, 2010, 09:28:33 AM »
Quote
Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp says Aaron Lennon is a long way off match fitness.

Lennon was ruled out for two months with a groin injury which he picked up in the 2-0 win over West Ham in December.

He suffered a further setback last month and is now said to be 'quite a way off' his return.

The talented winger had hoped to be fit in time for the World Cup in South Africa, but his participation will rely on a much speedier recovery.

Redknapp admits his disappointment for Lennon, who he hopes will figure again before the close of the season.

"It must be frustrating for Aaron," he said. "He's desperate to get fit.

"We just can't get him right. He's had a few goes and broken down."

"He's been back to the specialist," he added. "We're taking our time again, building up his strength in the groin area.

"He works every day with the physios and hopefully he will be working back outside shortly, but he's not ready to join the group again. He's quite a way off."

Redknapp is holding out hope that Lennon will recover in time to contribute further towards his side's press for UEFA Champions League football which will lead him nicely into this summer's tournament in South Africa.

"I hope he's going to be okay (for the World Cup)," he said. "I hope he'll play for us before the end of the season.

"He could suddenly see a bit of light and come back and if he does then he could be ready.

"Four or five weeks, we'll have to wait and see."

Not looking good for Lennon when he was in such good form. I can only hope he makes the World Cup now

Screw SA, I just want him to be fit for us, although i go so so angry when people say that Walcott is better and is a certain starter for England. Ballocks, he had one good game and has been sh*te ever since.

Some sources say that Lennon could be back for our match against Chelsea on April 17.

Agreed, I also want him to get the nod for England at the World Cup purely because I despise that baby faced twat Walcott.

Its going to be next season before he's able to recapture the form he was in before Christmas. Especially after the amount of time Lennon's been out for!

Biggs - Lennon & Bale on the wings will be absolute madness! Causing all types of problems for the opposition defences, cannot wait! Is there a chance he will be back in time for the game against Chelsea?

This isn't official, but i don't think he will be  :-\

I am however hopefull for the following weekend vs United. He hasn't got long to prove his WC fitness. But if im honest, i'd rather England didn't take him. That way he can spend the summer getting in shape for next season and build up his fitness as we mount another CL challenge  ;D

It might not take him that long to get his from back actually, Van Prick was able to to be just a dangerous as he was 5 months ago.

Depends on the injury though. Lennon has had a couple set backs.

Official site is saying Lennon probably won't feature, he did however train this week again  :D

So it looks like it will be United for his return date
