Squad for the remaining 14 league games
« on: February 02, 2010, 04:23:29 PM »
We have still come out of the tranfer window stronger IMO. Only hitch was not signing an experienced back up Keeper. Begovic was a prospect rather than experienced so not too worried about him not coming. Woodgate could be written off for the rest of the season so pleased to see Kaboul back. And Gudjohnson will offer more creativity than Keane. Apart from the lack of back up for Wilson it's a very well balanced squad. Lets hope we can finish 4th now!

.................Gomes.
.................Alnwick.
.................Walker.

Corluka...Dawson...King.........Bale.
Walker....Kaboul....Bassong...BAE.

Lennon...Hudd......Palacios...Modric.
Bentley...Kranjcar...Jenas.....Rose.

.............Defoe......Crouch.
.........Gudjohnson....Pav.

We should have grabbed Begovic for our 2nd choice keeper to be Gomes apprentice because Alnwick just isnt good enough, we had the money to throw at pompey but i think he favoured Stoke because of the first team action he would get. Right back seems abit dodgey because if Corluka gets injured can Walker step up as cover? Naughton is the better out of the Kyles we got from Sheffield United but hes out on loan at Middlesborough, and no Hutton! Still not sure about Kaboul hope he proves me wrong. Midfield and Strikrs seem good for me, hopefully Gudjohnson is worth it!

I think Gudjohnson will be good.

Alot of people think he is past it because we haven't seen him in a while, but he is still on 31.

he is a very clever footballer.

he doesn't really get alot of goals but i think he will be a good partner for Pav or defoe, they will get alot more goals with Gudjohnson

I have no idea what a DDOS attack is but it sounds a bit like a girl with large breasts attacking us? Is there any video of the attack as i would like to watch that one day?

When you think what Harry has done in the 3 transfer windows he's had, he's not far off the perfect squad now.

Next transfer window will see him buy some quality back up for Gomes and Palacios, and probably a replacement for Pav when he leaves, but that's about it.

His best signings have been Crouch and Defoe as a pair, Palacios as the ball winner we've needed for ages and Kranjcar for his craft on the wing. Kaboul and Bassong make sense with the question marks over King and Woodgate. I'm looking forward to seeing how he uses Gudjohnsen too.

More importantly he has improved the players he and the coaching staff inherited. Gomes, Dawson, Bale, BAE, Lennon, Hudd and now even Bentley have played really well for him. I think he still has work to do with Corluka's concentration, and also getting Modric back to full match fitness and the top of his game, and i know he will.

We're in a healthy financial position too, which we should appreciate when you you see what's happening at Pompey, and that postion will be improved when we sell some of the many players we have out on loan in the summer. The best thing about loaning these players is that we have the option to keep them if they rediscover their form. It's also been a good idea to scrap the reserves and have most of our U21's playing the the football league, as it's invaluable experience for them.

Loan team:

..................Button
..................Butcher
..................Jansson
..................Ranieri

.Hutton...Butcher...Caulker...Smith.
.Naughton....

.Taarabt...O Hara...Livermore...Gio.
...............Cox...................Towsend.

................Keane...Obika.
................Mason

Out of the above, the most experienced players Keane and Hutton are the most likely to make their loans permanent IMO. The other are young enough to improve and come back and break into the squad.
