Tottenham have re-signed central defender Younes Kaboul from Portsmouth having originally sold the Frenchman to the south coast side in August 2008.
Kaboul made 50 appearances, scoring five goals in his time at Portsmouth.
The 24-year-old was signed by Spurs in July 2007 from French side Auxerre and played 29 games, scoring four times in his one season at White Hart Lane.
"He's quick, strong and good in the air," said Spurs boss Harry Redknapp, who signed the Frenchman at Pompey.
"He has got all the equipment to become an outstanding player. He has improved a lot since his time at Portsmouth.
"He will be a good player for us."
The French under-21 centre-back joined Tottenham for £8m and was later sold to Portsmouth for about £6m.
Kaboul failed to settle at Spurs in his initial spell, often making mistakes that saw him fall out of favour with the then manager Juande Ramos.
But under Redknapp at Pompey, he returned to the type of form that saw him captain France's under-21 side while at Auxerre.
