If Mido was to go then I would prefer Pehkart or another young striker to step up. Not shell out money for someone who will sit on the bench and only play the odd game.

Ashton is well suited to the EPL; he is physical and good in the air and it is this we would need to replace if Mido moves on as I don't think our other strikers offer enough in these respects.

Maybe Pekhart can step in but it would be a big step up. Only the coaching staff will know if he is ready for the first team, but I would be surprised; would we really want to depend on such inexperience in the event that Berbatov was out for a spell. I would rather see him eased in - sub appearances, an odd game here or there in early rounds of the cup competitions. I imagine he is another season or so away being a first team regular.

Should Defoe or Keane be replaced this summer so that we have a strike partnership that could work without Berbatov, then I would be more comfortable with the idea of Pekhart stepping up, as he wouldn’t then be second choice to Berbatov (as he would be if we kept Defoe and Keane) but a true fourth striker.

imo, Mido is good enough for a squad place definitely, but if he wants first team football we shouldn't stop him.  He's not that good.  Would like to see Ashton or Bent at the lane.

I really cant see the point of buying another big name striker if Mido leaves. If we had Ashton or Bent we would find ourselves in the same situation of having to try to keep 4 top strikers happy. Far better to have Peckhart or Barnard as 4th choice giving them the odd game and letting them find their feet in the 1st team. Not much point in having an academy if you never give the home grown players a go.

^^ good point mate. Peckhart should be given a chance next season, he must be ready to take that step up.

Got to be honest I love Mido, I thought he was superb for us last season. I also am a firm believer he and berbs can play together, especially as we have the threat of lennon down the wing. Shame we will never see it

I don't remember Mido having a good game this season, granted he has not had much playing time, but when given the chance he did not shine.  Agree with letting acadamy players have a go.

I can't stand Mido, he's so sh*t it's unbelievable.

I really do hope that he goes next transfer window.

I would not mind to get another striker in, however wouldn't it be better if we fixed the slight kinks in the team first? (Like the left winger position).
