Tottenham are in talks with Sporting Lisbon about signing £13.5m rated winger Nani. Previous reports suggest he was on his way to Manchester United to team up with his Portuguese team mate Cristiano Ronaldo. But the Times newspaper reports Spurs are in the driving seat for his signature.

20 Year Old Nani as been pointed out as the next big talent, and a move to one of the big leagues in Europe looks imminent. He broke into the Sportings's first team at 18 years of age, scoring 6 goals in his debut season.

Martin Jol is prepared to go all out for the Portuguese superstar and looks to him to solve their left side problem. It would be a big coup for the North London team who are looking to break into the Premierships top four next season.

I know this we have been linked with Nani a few times and I doubt he will come to us and he did say one bad thing is well we are a small club.

bale 10m, kaboul 8m, now Nani 13.5m, (sneider bent 10-15m each). I know this is about nani, but if the one's out of brackets are coming the board would of spent 10m over what they said they would, so my guess is someones telling fibbys. Seeing as bale and kaboul seem to be the real deals going on at the moment this is probably nothing but media talk. Unless the board have up'ed the budget or perhaps we're talking about giving mido and ghlay for him, that would be a good deal!!.

He sounds very promising but I doubt he'll come if he really does think we're too small a club.

No thanks. Sure we just signed Bale for £10mil but hes an exception, this Nani guy is too much money. We can get MGP for less and Downing too. A lot is being made of this guy being the new Cristiano Ronaldo but hes only one year younger and his price tag is huge. Serious I've never seen this guy play and I doubt any of you have.

We didn't sign him for £10 million, we bought him for £5 mill upfront, and if he turns out to be good after appearences and stuff we will pay 10 mill, but if he sucks, then we'll end up paying like £6 mill, then sell him for £5 mill, therefore losing hardly any money.

Nani is worth the risk in my opinion, risks are fun, go for it.

Yeah we should go for it. But then again we have never had much luck with Portuguese players at the Lane [Postiga, Mendes, possibly Rocha]

Nani is a big risk - the only thing that he outshines MGP + M.Petrov in is his age and future potential, but then again if he calls us a small club, I don't think he'll be much use unless we make a profit from him. Even if he didn't call us a small club, he would still be a huge risk and I doubt he would cut it in the premiership. I say we get MGP or maybe M.Petrov, as we've got Taarabat as our future left/right winger with lennon, and as we have bale now @ left back, our left side would be very inexperienced so I think we need MGP with premiership experience and can grab us some goals from the midfield

I think so too that Nani is a big risk he is still too young and we have to have a player who has got Premiership experience someone with the likes of MGP. Petrov would be another good addition to our squad. But we can look on our side as we have got Tarrabt who I think is a left winger I might be wrong he may be a right sided player. We can't always play Lennon out of position. Know we have added Bale to our team who has not played in the Premiership before so we have an inexperienced left side I agree that we need a player like MGP who would add experience to our left side and score a few goals.

Yes but he doesn't suck so £10mil. I take back what i said, if we have the best chance in signing him go ahead but I'd rather take Downing from Boro. Obviously money isn't a problem as we are definately aiming for a top 4 finish next season and not UEFA cup finish. However if he doesnt play left wing I dont think theres a point in paying out so much money for him, if he is left wing definately.

We must that risks at times, Manure took a risk with Ronaldo and look at him now who would have thought he would have turned out the player he is today. For all we know Nani could just be as good in the future. Even Berba was a risk, now he's a world class player.

Agreed. No club can ever predict how a player will perform when changing from one country to another. I, for one, had never heard of Berba before he signed for us & I actually slated him in some of the early games I saw him play in - I thought he looked lazy & unimpressive - now I can't get enough of him!  So I say 'go for it' & trust that the club sees something in Nani that could being extra quality to the side.

Nani is a talent (even if she is old ) but i don't think we will get him because Man Utd are interested and this is not the same situation as bale. Nani is looking for a big club move and with ronaldo at man utd he will be tempted to go there rather than us
