American Revolution right for Spurs?

Reports suggest today that a £250 million bid has come in from an American Consortium to take over Spurs. Sure this would mean we would have a lot more money to spend but aren't we doing just fine in terms of money and management at Spurs at the moment? As long as the coaching staff at Spurs stay the same I think I wouldn't mind if they took over. Lets be honest, if we had around £50-70 mil to spend this summer surely we would have a team that could challenge for the league. The foundations are already set in this team and all we need now are a few parts of the puzzle we are missing to become a top four team. Is this one of the parts we are missing?

Nah, we need stability and don't want a disruption in our finances, although this would be the perfect time 4 the takeover, new stadium wanting to be built and the need for expensive top class players.

I think the board are doing a great job @ the moment so I would prefer it if they were left to do their job as we have got the 2nd richest chairman and ENIC, financed by A. Sugar. Hopefully they could do us a favour and finance a new stadium without renaming WHL, perhaps just 1 of the stands...
Get Moussa Sissoko In Spurs!!!!

And come on City, break that bloomin' top 4!

Yeah i have to agree with SPWH1990, stability is the key for spurs right now. Any foriegn business men or consortuims trying to take us over will pretty much destroy what the chairman, bored and manger had set up in the last few years!

A big transfet kitty would be very nice, but i feel were doing just grand as we are right now.

Were moving the right direction, so long may it continue

The question is will Daniel Levy sell the club to these Americans who want to take over, I doubt it he will what we need is stability at the club. I do agree that any takeover will destroy what the current management have done and set up in the last year or so.

Nah don't need them. We are a rich club and this will just ruin the stability we've been working hard to achieve. Plus who would want these yanks to take control of our club, they know sh1t about the passion of football.  I don't want us to win things like Chelsea, I want it to be off our own backs.

Levy will not sell Spurs.

Tottenham today refused to confirm whether a US consortium wants to buy the club, but chairman Daniel Levy is unlikely to give up control just yet.

A report claimed a group, whose identity has not been revealed, were lining up a £250million bid.
But it is believed Levy is not ready to give up his tenure.

He wants to establish the club in the top four and in a stadium, whether it's White Hart Lane or a new one, that holds around 55,000 people and would make the club a much more valuable asset.

The people behind the supposed bid for Tottenham have not been named, but owner of MLS side DC United and chairman of the California-based Westlake Group Will Chang admitted last week he was keen on buying a Premiership outfit.

He said: "The English Premier League is the best-managed and most powerful of all football leagues in the world today.

It is the group's intention to purchase a stake in the very near future."

An increase in speculation over Tottenham has seen the value of the club's shares rise rapidly in recent weeks with the price going up 30 pence in the past month.

I'd really hate a US take over at Spurs. I don't believe Levy will back down.

The trouble is its not up to Mr Levy. If enough share holders sell out to this consortium eventually they will take over the club. Just like they did at Man Utd.

I find myself in the middle - as a fan you don't really want a consortium but on the other hand, you want your team to do the best they can. Cash is everything unfortunately. However, I would love to see my beloved team progress and start winning trophies again WITHOUT the help of the Americans or such like.

Good point, but i dont feel we need a multi millionaire backing to start winning trophies again, we are on the right tack at the moment.
We were extremly close to winning 3 different cups this last season, if it wasnt for critical descisions to go against us (the penalty vs Seville).
I honestly believe we are only 2/3 quality players away from gate crashing the top 4 and then the trophies shall come! :dance2:

WHO DOESNT BACK US WINNING THE UEFA CUP THIS TIME AROUND??

It is only gonna destroy our club if these americans take over why have it. This season know it will be refered to as last we were in three cup competitions but I do agree most of the decisions went against us and the penalty in Seville was the turning point.

I just can't wait till we get the players we seriously need for our team and once we have done that lets move on to the hard side of business that is to gate crash the top four then we will have our chance of winning silverware.

I will back us winning the UEFA Cup next season, We came close only for that penalty decision to go against us.

Levy and Enic brought a steady hand to the tiller and after trying the popular route with Hoddle a well thought out holistic plan to reverse our fortunes, which has been successful in terms of improving the squad ability, management, league finishes and cup runs year on year.

You only have to look at our share price now compared to when they took over £0.18p I believe)

But as has been mentioned it isnt a matter of whether Levy would sell but whether others would. Sugar for instance own a significant 14% chunk I believe and no doubt if the righ offer came in he is hard noesed enough to sell up.

As a PLC we are prone to be bought and sold and right now when Levy has done the majority of the hard work and with Man Utd, Liverpool, Chelsea all bought up, we are the most attractive option on the table with silverware and ground expansion possible there is an attractive side with additional profitibility to be had still there. I worry this happens as I like the steady improvements much more than lurching from one thing to another every season far more.

Besides a camel is a horse designed by comittee, who wants that with more emphasis on profit rather than improvement and silverware? not me.
There be dragons

If the current situation doesn't bring us what we want and the big names start leaving and we start falling down the league, then bring them in, but only as a last resort.

I think there is at least 2 or 3 season needed before we start getting what we want, so until then, no thanks!

We are doing fine and progressing brilliantly without these investers. We have sufficient funds to take us to the next level with a chairman who loves the club and a solid base. It will be all well and good if the investor comes in and gives us tons of cash, but what if he doesn't get interested anymore? All our hard work will be down the pan and the club will be in a crisis. Plus it will be far better to be successful without the huge investors.
