Anthony Gardner was happy with a second season in fifth place, but he wants more next season.

He told the official site: 'Fifth place twice on the trot is real achievement, We would have liked a trophy, but with the amount of games we've played, it's progression and shows consistency. Hopefully we can go one step further next season and bring some silverware back here.'

With all the players targeting silverware or a Champions League place next season, it is set for an exciting summer.

Martin Jol will have to bring in a few more players to reach the expectations that are now around the Lane.

If I was BMJ, I`d be going for a left winger (no surprises there), be looking to keep hold of Jermain Defoe (that one is a shock!), but I`d be inclined, to strengthen the defence.

Yes, we have The King back and next season he will be back in form and be fit, but I'd still like to see either a new centre back or left back (or both) so that we were really strong in this area.

Just imagine if we could score the same amount of goals next season but concede a lot less? We'd be dead certs for a Cup run and hopefully knock Ars*nal out of the Champions League places.

push on

if we want to keep berbs and our other top players we have to break the top 4 Ars*nal are on the slide .if we dont do it next season a few players could start looking elsewhere  it happens carrick  and judas for example so we have to buy well young and a few experienced players like davids to push us on and gel the team together.and get rid of some of the dead wood (ghally gardner  stalteri  and  defoe) the last one should be sold because he aint happy great player but keane more team player and that is what we need. we have got to start the season running because our poor start cost us this season and we cant afford another bad start.so get behind the lads and lets push oncome on you spurs

We came close in the 2005-2006 season but it didn't work out due to what happened on the last day. Hope the scum slide down the table and we need to invest money on new players such as the likes of a left winger i will say that one but there are more and I am going to go through the list of what we need. Carrick well what can I say? Judas same.  We need to buy some experienced players who can help the young players out. Do agree there is some players we need to get rid of Ghaly, Gardner, Stalteri. Keep the likes of Robbie and Berba defos can't be sold. We can't have another duff start to the new season like last time and lets get behind the team and help gate crash the top four.

Damn right we should keep hold of Defoe. Not many strikers out there that would get you 18 goals a season.

You are right there 18 goals is fantastic and we shouldn't sell a top class player like JD.

It makes me laugh when spurs fans say we should sell defoe.

How can selling JD be seen as a step forward, it would be a massive step backwards.

We are probably the only team in the league that has the option to bring on such a good striker as defoe off the subs bench, and as a few of u said, 18goals this season, taking into account the ammount of games hes been on the bench is fantastic.

Also if we sell him then maybe it will effect keanes game as he wont have such strong competition.

No way should we sell JD!
