Only Standart welcomed Dimitar Berbatov at Sofia Airport. Bulgaria's international and Tottenham striker had an incredibly good season in England's Premiership as he scored 23 goals during the season and increased his transfer price to 40 million euro. At exactly 02:30 p.m., Berbatov appeared at the VIP exit wearing jeans, a sports shirt and a baseball cap. He was a little bit surprised as he saw only his father Ivan waiting for him in a black Mercedes. Berbatov smiled and agreed to give an interview to The Standart

- Welcome home! How do you estimate you first season in Tottenham?
- It was a very good season. Both for me and for the team. We played a lot of matches. I still feel angry that we missed to play at the UEFA Cup final. I hope that we reach farther next year.
- England's media praise you a lot but you have not changed and are still a down-to-earth person?
- I do not think that I have to tell what I am like. Those who know me can tell you that I have not changed and that I am still the same down-to-earth man.
- The British press writes every day of other clubs showing vivid interest in you. Are you to stay in Tottenham?
- I am extremely happy in Tottenham and my contract is for another 3 years, I will stick to it. I am now having a meeting with my manager and will discuss with him my situation. I am again telling you, I am very happy in Tottenham.
- Is there an option that you leave London?
- Do not ask me such things. You'd better go and see my agent. I do not want to discuss this topic.
- You turned to be a key player for Tottenham for a season only. You've won high recognition.
- Recognition makes me happy but I am realistic and I know that next season will be harder for me, yet I am sure that I will cope with the difficulties.
- What is ahead of you apart from the qualifiers vs Belarus on June 2 and 6?
- I have to get some good rest in the next 2-3 days. This is what Tottenham managers recommended me. Then I will have to go on with my practices. Bulgaria must win the qualifiers vs Belarus and not only them. We have no other choice.
- But can Bulgaria beat Belarus?
- I am optimistic and I am sure that we shall win the qualifiers. If we fail to win the matches we will not deserve to play at EURO 2008 finals.
- A young player from Levski went on tests to Tottenham. I think the interest of English clubs in Bulgarian footballers has increased with your help?
- Bulgaria has young talented footballers like Levski player Nasko Kurdov. Only someone has to spot them.
- Will you continue to wear the You Are Not Alone ribbon in support of the Bulgarian nurses?
- If I can do something to help, I am ready to immediately do it. My wish is that through me more people worldwide learn about this unjust trial.
