Big Sam could he be on his way to Tottenham ?
« on: May 04, 2007, 10:46:47 PM »
Sam Allardyce was yesterday linked with the manager job at Newcastle, but could it be that Tottenham also are interested in the former Bolton manager ?

Martin Jol hasn't delivered in the Premiership and he missed the Champions League last season and the UEFA Cup adventure was stopped by Sevilla this season.

Tottenham hasn't won anything since 1999, when they defeated Leicester City in the League Cup final at Wembley.

Sam Allardyce has been linked with both Newcastle and Manchester City and even a move to the MLS, but Tottenham, what about them

I hope this does not happen. But let's look on the great side when we make trips to Bolton if we did have him as manager we could beat Bolton on their own turf.

I wouldn't mind him as long as he doesn't turn us into Bolton. We want attractive football.

Although i doubt we'll ditch Jol. i would actually feel sad if we fire him considering what he has done for us in the last 2 seasons no matter what the dissapointments this season were.

Surely this would be a retrograde step.  Whilst Allardyce has done a wonderful job at Bolton, he is not the sort of manager that will have us winning games, with the attractive footy that we all crave.  We simply must keep Jol in my view - are we all getting a bit carried away.  We have a very good chance of getting our second consecutive 5th spot.  Just remember 5 years ago......

We should keep Jol no matter if we did not win anything this season.

No no no. Jol's the man to do the job.
We play attractive, attacking, FAIR football ubder him. he is honest about our frailties and addressing them. You can't put a price on loyalty and o believe Jol is committing himself to Spurs. You need mangers like that if you are going to get loyalty from your players [Fergusson for example]

I cannot look at Sam Alladyce without thinking Mike Bassett England Manager so this idea gets a big NO from me. Martin Jol is the best manager we have had in years and his heart is in the job. I saw a piece on a danish stream once when they asked him a load of tough questions about our history and he got them all right which was more than a lot of fans who they questioned outside the ground managed. Which proves nothing about his managerial ability but says a lot about his love for our club.
As to the notion of some sort of job share forget that we saw how well that worked at Liverpool with Gerrard Houllier and Roy Evans.

What a pointless thread, any 1 that would want fat bastard sam as our manager  over jol is pretty stupid.

If u want us to turn itno a team full of foreigners then fair enough.

Oh NO NO NO. Whilst Sam is one of the better English managers, not for us thanks. Although there are a few issues with MJ's tactics at times, he is the man for us. I like his attitude & his personality.

I cant imagine after building the squad for the last few seasons that it would all get thrown away to put big sam in charge, a very big step back i think.

Who ever make these rumours up want shooting.
Jol is by far one of the best managers in the prem. He's one of the few managers every one get's along with [Minus Winger], he's made some great [some bad] signings, and we're playing the best football we have in years. He's clearly the man to take us to the next level.
If fat Sam becomes Spurs manager, i'll stop supporting Spurs that's how much i hate him. Long boring route one and set play football, not for me thanks.

I think we've got to stick with Jol.  Yes Big Sam is a great manager and Bolton have played some decent football at times, I think they have just aquired a reputation which has become hard for them to shake off.
But back to point, what has constantly changing managers achieved for us over the last I don't know how many years.  Jol is building something here and these things take time.
Its the random ignorance that makes me mad

The funny thing about this thread is the fact its being talked about as if its a rumour going around the media, when its the fact dj frisky has just randomly made it up for some strange reason.
