I know its a mercenary professional old game, but even in this cynical age Gooner Graham had a garden decorated with an Ars*nal crest.
I was wondering, who if anyone from our squad has (or has potential to) take the club to heart and have a love affair with the club in the sort of way Mabbut once had nad become a dyed in the wool lillywhite.
Most likely to IMO:
Robinson really enjoys his time at Spurs, has gone on record as much, there is a clear bond with him and the South side. Probably the most likely.
Keano - seems to have started saying nice things about te club where he only used to say them about ex clubs in the past, sneaky feeling that during his time here he has built a warm affection for the place.
King - famously thought of as Tottenham through and through, but is suspiciosly quiet on the issue, I suspect whilst he has affection for the place, he is a pro and is careful not to make promises he cant keep about being a one club man. I'd love it if he did though.
Dawson - hard to say, but I sense he knows he' highly thought of and is enjoying his football with us. Could be.
Tainio - only because I read he was a Spurs fan as a kid and that isnt uncommon from his part of the world, certainly plays with vigoiur so its plausible.
Maybe's
Berbatov, definitely a great start with the crowd, but as much as we love him and would love him to 100% be a true lillywhite back I think we all know he's a class act and it could be a short affair instead of true love.
Chimbonda - The way he reacts makes me think, blimey and to think I thought we were stiched up by Wigan on the price, now he looks cheap. Seems to be relishing his role and time with us, given a bit longer maybe he'll convert.
Jenas - much like Chimbonda really, his move from Newcastle has not been a bad one for him, if slightly less triumphant in his position thn Chimbonda he does seems to like the place and makes good comments in the press, hard to tell if he is being pro or may get the Spurs bug in the blood.
Huddlstone - coming on nicely, has potential to be a real Spurs favourite and a legend, 50/50 really. Would love to see him develop under Jols tutilage to become a proper yiddo.
Im not convinced these chaps ever would, but not a comment on their professionalism:
Zokora - Why is it I cant escape the feeling he's playing up to the crowd?
Defoe - As much as I like his football talent and am grateful, his antics at West Ham always make me think he considers us a stepping stone.
Lennon - undoubted talent, I suspect out for himself first and foremost. but this grasshopper is young, he will learn.
Malbranque - too long at Fulham and fair play nothing against that, doing a solid job for us and thats the main thing.
Mido - just seems too egotistical to me to ever take a club as something as bigger than himself worth surrendering to.
Ghaly - just to quiet to tell
Murphy - no chance, Liverpool through and through, no objection to that at least he is loyal and professional.
