How do you differentiate between a Judas and a player who wants to move on to further improve his chances of winning trophies/medals. There have been a few players over the years  who maybe fit in to one or other or both of these categories…should we hold our arms wide open and embrace those who decide to return when their bellies are full…?

A "judas" will leave you in the dirt with no problems and not be bothered for a team you despise (Sol Campbell).

To further your prospects you have to be a decent player and a decent player will have a few choices if he wants to leave and doesnt have to pick the fans rivals.

I also dont think its as bad if the club gets something out of it.

Thats just my personal opinion anyway

A true Judas is one who knows full well who your rival is but leaves you to go to them anyway. I don't think any manager in his right mind would bring such a player back to his team, in ANY sport, especially football. Sol Campbell back to Spurs after leaving for Ars*nal, an AEK player after leaving for Panathinaikos, Brad May after leaving Vancouver for Colorado... no way would they last.

For instance... I see Sol Campbell as a judas but I don't have (m)any complaints against Teddy Sheringham and Michael Carrick.

This is interesting Cambell left for Ars*nal in a despicable fashion going for the cash and the glory and we all hate him. But Pat Jennings went to them too in different circumstances and no one would ever criticise him. I think it is down to the way it's done. Take West Ham they hate Lampard but applaud Joe Cole they both left for Chelsea having been idols at upton park but Cole handled it much better and so he is well thought off by the hammers fans. Then of course you have Paul Ince the ultimate Judas having been pictured in a Man Utd shirt whilst still a West Ham player.

It was the way Campbell went from staying at Spurs, to leaving but going abroad (which I could understand to a point) to going and signing for the other lot.  I remember it cos I was in the states at the time and had just spent a hour walking round Boston with my mates to my an internet cafe only to find one and have that ruin my day.
Its the random ignorance that makes me mad

although the majoriy of u will say no, would you take arnesen back if he wanted? i am not sure it would be hard but i would love him buying for us again?
IF sol campbell came back and was brill how long would it take for the fans to stop boing if ever?

The fans wouldnt let Campbell come back, and no matter how well he played he'd get abuse and leave.

I totally agree!  Why would we want him anyway - Ledders & Daws do a much better job.

Campbell left on a free transfer and went to the Gooners, that is unforgivable.

Teddy and Carrick were both sold and we made some money to go towards replacing them, thats the key difference.

Klinsmann is said to have turned down a management offer at Chelsea, I hope his memories of Spurs may have played a part in that.

The really despicable part of the whole sorry campbell affair was that we all knew he was going to leave despite him saying otherwise. If he`d have said something at the start of the season we could have at least got a proper fee for him. Then to bugger off to that lot just took the urine. I dont blame sheringham for going when he did because we were really poor at the time and united were at their peak.I feel a little differently about carrick. He was on his way to portsmouth until we went in for him.We turned him into an england player then when a champions league club came knocking he was off.We bought him when no other decent team wanted him and he **** on us.
If your not spurs you`re dead to me

I wish carrick would have stayed loyal to us but man utd must be hard to turn down. we got 18mil for him and bought him for about 2 mil. thats very very good business. Sol Campbell is different, we wanted him to stay but he went on a FREE TRANSFER to the SCUM. Ledley is better than that scum bag campbell anyway now.
