Our new captain
« on: August 27, 2014, 12:07:37 AM »
With Michael Dawson signing for Hull City we are in need of a new captain.
I think that LLoris will get the nod from Pochettino, he is afterall the captain of the French national team.
However I could be wrong, there are other candidates.
What are your thoughts?
Who do you think is the best man for the job?

Kaboul has captained the side in the league while Lloris was the captain in Europa League game when Kaboul wasn't playing. I guess that answers the question.  :)

I'd like to see Vertongen as our new captain in the event that Lloris doesn't get the job.

It wouldn't surprise me to see the new Argentinean defender to be our next Captain.
I’ve lived a life that’s full. I’ve travelled each and every highway;
And more, much more than this,
I did it my way.

Regrets, I’ve had a few;
But then again, too few to mention.
I did what I had to do
And saw it through without exemption.

I would like to see Christian Eriksen as our next captain. He is another player that has potential and could set the league alight.

I can't see past Vertoghen or Lloris I'm afraid. Eriksen seems a little withdrawn and soft at times. If we were winning more comfortably and full of confidence that could work, but until then we need a strong and decisive leader on the pitch.
Maybe next year...

          Lloris or Vertonghen for me, probably Vertonghen solely because he is an outfield defender. :-\ :-\ :-\

Agreed. Verthonhgen for me, it might just galvanise him too.

 Vertonghen is a bit jiggery at the moment but should settle down soon. I think he would make a good captain.

Eriksen will probably never be our captain. Levy will sell him to Real Madrid before...  :2funny:

....because he needs money for the new stadium?

Because he's a businessman.

Isn't that the same thing? Both sentences are not incompatible with each other. :up:

Not really. I know lots of businessman who don't need to buy a stadium. ;)
Maybe next year...

How did we move from our new captain to businessmen and stadiums.....

Anyway for me its a straight choice between Verthonghen & Lloris. At first I favoured JVT but now I'm leaning to Lloris. He has been our most reliable player by a mile over last year, he has proved extremely professional and loyal, and I think he has the best temperament of the two. He has committed himself long term, so lets go !!
