Well, we didn't play very well, did we. But, three points is three points, even though a draw would have been the fair result and the penalty was harsh. I guess referees are making up for all the penalties we've not been given before. To be honest, none of the players really shone, maybe Townsend was a bit better than others. And Sandro's performance?! Oh boy... Anyway, let's see how we'll do against Hull City on Wednesday.
A trivia question: When was the last time Spurs played the same opponent twice in succession? (Sadly, I don't know the answer.)
I'm ecstatic with the result...we have been watching United, for years, win EPL titles on the back of performances/results like that
Honestly, for me, the important thing is that teams like this are almost predetermined to snuff the life out of games, but previously, once we started getting recognised as serious, we have lost and drew plenty of these - at least we won.
And there are still a lot of things to click into place and a lot if gears to move up through.
As for the penalty, yeah, it was harsh (and, yeah, maybies its a bit of karma for all the lousy decisions we have suffered from), but, I have seen plenty upon plenty upon plenty of them given, and that type is always the type where if you are the penalised club you feel hard done by, but if you are the would-be receiving club, if it isn't given, you feel a little aggrieved. Partially because you have seen plenty given and partially because it is so hard to call. To me it looked like he was trying to get his hand out of the way - hence the feeling of good fortune (or, bad, from Hull's part). But by the same token, that means his arm was in a liable position in the first place and not impeded in any way from not being there. How many times, now, do we see defenders jumping into challenges like that with both hands behind their back just so that this type of situation doesn't occur? Either way, we need clarity and consistency for these situations - otherwise someone is always going to feel aggrieved.
As for the trivia question - I'm sure it was fairly recently, just can't think.
