i really hope that we can keep hold of defoe, because he cant be happy keeping the bench warm. berba and keane work really well together and i just have a feeling that defoe will probably go in the summer. thoughts.....?

I wouldn't want Defoe to go, there isnt many strikers like him out there.

But if we can get a top player like Saviola to replace him, then I wouldn't be so worried if we sold him.

it would be a massive loss for us if defoe were to leave, theres only a handful of natural goalscorers like him in the prem. he certainly showed when keane was suspended in, i think it was december, that given a run in the team he can be lethal but was unfairly dropped when keane come back.unfortunately because of things like this i think he will be on his way come the summer

He can go for free imo.

Don't rate him atall.

Lazy, plays for himself, crap.

Carrick last year - defoe this? Can't lose quality players like this, even if my mum knows the offside rule better than him. Sort out the left side of the pitch and we'll be a top 4-5 side.

?????????????????????????????????????

Yes he plays 4 himself + yes he doesnt chase the ball down like keano but thats coz he plays on the last man like dimitar... Also he is a better finisher + offers Jol a different option, we NEED 2 KEEP him... hes also young, so has more 2 give
Get Moussa Sissoko In Spurs!!!!

And come on City, break that bloomin' top 4!

I hope he stays - he just seems to be part of the furniture at Spurs. Trouble is I love Keano and Berba up front. Problem with that is, lack of games for JD makes him look like he isn't a decent player, which he IS if he's given a good run in the side. Agreed he is selfish at times - sometimes it pays off, sometimes it doesn't.

sometimes i think he's a waste of space but there are times where he can be pretty quality. the times when he's a waste of space seems to occur when he is a bit part player when he gets a run of games he is quality. i'd love to see him stay but i wouldn't blame him if he left unlike carrick who has pound signs for eyes. JD has proved his loyalty and if he goes good luck to him in the future but i still want him to stay

Has been on the bench too much this year. I think he will be looking for a change. We need to start him more often and give him a long run with Berbatov just to see what the two of them can really do.

i think defoe has got it in him to be a world class striker

so i dont think we should sell him

i think in todays game u cant expect a run in games so u can score...defoe takes to long coming back from being dropped b4 he scores...thats why he never gets a start/..

keano gets dropped/rested then his 1st game back he looks like scoring where as jd looks lazy....

im not sure what his value is but if any one temps the board they should take it....defoe is more than replaceable

To my mind if Defoe leaves one of two things will happen to him
1/ He will go to a poorer side get plenty of games but not stand a chance of
winning anything.
2/ He will go to a so called bigger club and spend most of his time on the bench.
To me neither of these options seem particulaly attractive so he may as well stay where he is work on his team play and try and force his way into the team.

I agree, he needs to start working hard to try and make it into the first squad.

I still think we should be talking about keeping not selling

Defoe can show flashes of brilliance, but he is lazy.  He does not track back on defence, and on offence will not chase down loose balls.  If the pass to him is not perfect he lets it go. Both Keane and Berbatov are more versatile, and work really well together.  Defoe will find it hard to break into the side while both are fit and available.
