Why sign Dempsey who has behaved just as badly, if not worse than Luka Modric? 

Why did we make a late bid for Berbatov after his Modric and Dempsey like disrespect for the club?
 
Did we sell Van der Vaart because AVB was scared of his influence in the dressing room?
 
And the same Question about Dawson although he didn't leave (luckily for us) in the end?

Maybe these answers might go someway to understanding our strange last gasp transfer window activity !!!!
