Take on transfers
« on: August 29, 2012, 10:28:53 PM »
So we nabbed Dembele. Now as optimistic as I am I really cant shake the feeling that he's been signed to replace Rafa. Most of you know I'm a HUUUGE Rafa fan so this is not wishful thinking on my part. I have no doubt that he loves the club but apparently Sylvie has never been able to settle over here , why I dont know because I'm pretty sure every Spurs fan would be happy to put her up for the night.

I think that Moutinho is and always has been Modders replacement. This flirting with M'Vila is nothing more than Levy negotiating tactics. If we do finally nab him Moutinho is not only a quality player but will act as a great link between the other players and AVB.

Lloris looks nearly done. Another great sigining. However, I really don't want to be the club that ends Brads appearance record. Nevertheless Lloris can be our No1 for years to come and has the potential to be one of the best in the World.

Onto Willian. A pacey winger he looks like he can cross a ball and bang in a goal or two. Don't think anything else needs to be said other than GET IT DONE DANIEL!

Finally the forward situation. I dont believe for a second we are settling for Kane as our 3rd choice. Mores tactics by Levy and AVB. We've been linked with every striker under the Sun (and mostly by the Sun). Damaio looks like latest player we're 'close' to signing every single transfer window but never do. Remy? I think he was liked by Harry and the deal died when he left. Now if Levy wants to prove allthe Spurs fans who backed him right, and he grabs the transfer window by the balls because he realises what an opportunity this is then there's only one man he should go after.

Falcao.

The mans record speaks for itself. He's strong. He's Fast. He can head the ball well. And my god he can f**king finish. Adding to that the fact that he first shone under AVB and he links up brilliantly with Moutinho (another pro in the sign Moutinho column) means all paths point to Falcao.

Do I think this all will happen. Probably not. What I do think is that these last few days are do or die for Levy. Time after time he's had the chance to splash the cash and vastly improve the squad. Fans (myself included) have defended him until now, but this time there are no excuses. Prove the doubters wrong Daniel!! FFA please prove them wrong. COYS!!
"It is better to fail aiming high than to succeed aimin low. And we of Spurs have set our sights very high, so high in fact that even failure will have in it an echo of glory."

All this transfer activity and signings is fantastic and welcomed but two things

1. Why didn't we do this 18 months ago when we had the chance to push on and really challenge when Man Ure, Chelski and Citeh were nowhere near as strong !!!!

2. And now we are doing it why is it always at the last minute we have already played 2 league games and to be honest not really set the League alight. Now we are going to have an almost completely different starting 11 that will need time to gel and adjust to the premiership meaning we will probably have to endure another month or so of mediocre results !!!

You may of noticed that I am not AVB's biggest fan but I will give him a chance and so far he has done little to impress me, if these are his signings then I am slightly more optimistic but only slightly.

The main thing that really bugs me though is that Levy dumps 'Arry, for whatever reason, and then installs AVB but lets him stew and start the season with a squad who don't know who's staying, who's playing and who's down the road !!! Now things are starting to sort themselves out but in my eyes Levy has already let us down by not doing this wheeling and dealing before the start of the season and actually backing his man !!!

I really hope that all these new signings come off and they all hit the ground running but I still can't shake the feeling that once again we have missed the boat !!!!

Looking like Lloris, Remy and Willan are all on the rocks according to talksport, something to do with Levy wanting to pay about half of what the other clubs are asking for... we've been here before !!!!

Also sounding like Van der Vaart is about to leave and go to Hamburg apparently the deals all done with Van der Vaart barring a medical and guess what it's stalled (good) because Levy wants 18 million Euros and Hamburg are only willing to pay 12 million.

Why why why if we need the players (and we clearly do) pay the money or at least offer a realistic amount rather than insulting the other clubs with ridiculously low bids and if in Van der Vaart's case if there is a good solid offer that is making us a profit then let them go, for god's sake we only payed 8 million for him in the first place from real Madrid !!!!!

Why is Levy such a knob we have a new manager that is going to need all the help he can get and we are messing about right at the arse end of the transfer window again, just to save a couple of quid...............WHY WHY WHY ?

Thats a very good question. Unless some miracles are on the cards today, then no more transfers will happen. I guess we will have to wait until tonight before delivering a final verdict on Levy's transfer dealings.

I never bad mouth a manager early on, because you just never know.

But if i am totally honest, i'm alittle bit worried with what seems to be going on at the moment.

AVB seems like he wants to take some of the squad apart, the same squad that has had us fighting for CL consistently. Just doesn't seem smart.

Are these players we are being linked with, really better than what we have? I'm not so sure.

I have never been a big fan of AVB even when Chelsea got him, i feel he was overrated big time, but i hope he proves me wrong.

I'm not seeing anything about signing a striker. AVB said we are definitely not after Remy. All I'm seeing is how Levy has irritated Lyon over Lloris and we're back in for Moutinho. What about a striker!?!

From BBC:

Here's what Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas had to say about Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy regarding Spurs's move for Hugo Lloris. It is not particularly complimentary: "We have had people speaking all night with Daniel Levy. He talks a lot and goes back on what we've agreed in writing.

Sounds about right.

Exactly the same as it was a year ago - too many players sold/loaned out, only a few players coming in. The squad is thin and injury-prone. We're going to need all the luck in the world.

About 15mn left to dealine and we have so far signed Dempsey and Lloris. Not too shabby id'say!
I wonder if Moutinho will be our last addition?  I have my doubts. It should have been done by now :tickedoff:

Can I still hear from some of you say that AVB will F*** it up anyway!! 8D

Just in passing: shocking 0-4 loss to Chelsea.  That why I love football!
