A lot of people always mention lack of investment, speculate to accumulate, Levy doesnt spend etc etc so i thought i would highlight a link that i am sure i posted a while back. It takes you to a very well balanced view of our club finances (blog actually written by a guy i believe is a gooner and he has many on other clubs worth a read)
 
In short the club spends far more on wages than they used to, football doesnt just revolve around transfer fees and the bottom line is i want the club to spend what they can afford. Having a billionaire owner means nothing unless he sees your club as a plaything rather than a business. I am not convinced anyone hoping for new owners (AEG) will really see anything different, people always talk about new money and investment but thats normally a mith or just more borrowing.
 
The club is being structured to hopefully redovelope WHL and that has meant a lot of land purchase and on top of that a new £30 mill (dont quote me on that figure) training centre away to open.
 
anyway read the blog, skip the really boring bits and notice we punch well above our weight and lets hope we continue to do so. The other mith that Arse dont spend is a joke when you see their salary costs compared to ours.

I know Levy makes mistakes but so does every chairman and i am not trying to make a pro-levy point with this post all i want is people to realise there is no magic wand or missing millions just simple a club trying to balance the books. Speculate to accumulate against the financial power of the chavs and s**tty is simply suicide.

We were on the cusp of something great. There wasn't a Spurs supporter out there that didn't know we needed a striker in January, and here we still are waiting for one. All Levy has done is secure the signature of Adebayor, who is average at best. He sacked our most successful manager in years and has employed the biggest flop the premiership has ever seen. The new stadium should be nearly built by now, however the man you appear to love so much decided it would be a good idea to turn Tottenham Hotspur FC into an east London club. Fortunately that didn't come off, however he spent millions of the clubs money attempting it. Due to his out an out greed, we are less than a week away from the end of the transfer window with Modric training in the car park, and Tom Huddlestone and Michael Dawson in limbo. Our squad is as light as I have ever seen it, and we all know what our injury record is like. You have the right to have confidence in the man, personally I despise him.

Moving Spurs was a dumb idea and one i didnt back. Could understand it from a financial aspect but clubs should never forget without the fans they are nothing. Personally  i think he started the crusade just as a bluff to get more backing from the council/government and then as time wore on it became a personal vendetta aginst the Brady bunch but who knows it may have been all about the re-sale value of the club. Until anyone of us can afford to buy Spurs there isnt a great deal you can do about that.
 
All i do know is that he is a far more successful and financially astute guy than any of us on this forum.
UGS when i see Lewis or Levy pocketing millions of your hard earned pounds then i will agree with you until then that is just a rather shortsighted/pub talk/talk show comment. Football clubs need to be run as a football business that means product on the pitch and controls on the costs. Show me where on the accounts you see Spurs sitting on pots of gold and i will admit your right until then you and baldie just sound like a couple of Adrian Durham afternoon Talksport crackpots.
 
Next few days will show if the club will just trouser the Modric cash or spend to improve

Millers at the end of the day all the clubs that are successful are massively in debt Man Ure, Chelski, Real Madrid, Barcelona, Inter Milan, Ac Milan and the list goes on. So the statement that Levy cares more about the balance sheet than the playing side is technically correct he would rather see us fail than take that extra step and hang our arse in the wind and take a chance.
I agree that clubs need to be run as a business but we are run so tightly that it is choking the life out of our footballing challenges, just for once I would love to see us splash some serious cash and mount a challenge, I suppose it would be taking a gamble but if it paid off then the riches we would make would dwarf the risks we would of taken.
 
Unfortunately that opportunity I feel has passed, if Levy had backed the side in the last couple of seasons then we may well of been a serious contender for major silverware and honours but now we are rebuilding under a new unproven manager and the chance has gone.
 
Sometimes the heart must rule the head that is why there are greats at sports and great achievements in sport because people believe and follow their heart and dreams, rather than worrying about how to expalin why they didn't follow their dreams.
 
I'm not saying that Levy should put the club in debt up to it's eyes and risk ending up like Leeds but just loosen his grip on the purse strings to allow us to pursue the dream and trust in ability of his employees !!!

Cant believe the thought process behind bid 11 mill for a player of that calibre when chelsea couldnt get him for 20 they aint going to sell to us for 11.

I am starting to feel more than uneasy by the amount of our core players that are being set up for a move away from WHL and with very little news of players coming in.

The whole team seems to be being taken apart with Dawson, VdV and now Lennon all apparently on their way, why are we keeping the likes of Bentley and Jenas this makes no sense at all!

If these sales go through and AVB doesnt start getting results its inevitable that he will not last, and that in IMO is bad for us as we need stability, only Chelsea and Man City can buy success not us!

Also starting to hear signs of thinning down the squad which weren't expected by me.
I did a couple of posts a few months ago , from media reports stating 11 to go and then a further 4 to go
So that was 15 out and at that time not much was being spoken about coming in.


With a couple of days to go am seeing more of the outs with as you say, VDV maybe on the move to Hamburg and also read Defoe might move ...but it is just paper talk at the moment.


Now however there is a lot more talk about players joining our squad.
Will it happen in time, it has with Dembele !!!

So please explain his recent trip to the Ukraine ? opening a secret bank account maybe ? or trying to get an exciting player called Willian maybe. Along with Dembele, Lloris, and possibly a couple of others he seems to have more interest in the team than you suggest.

But I bet if you add all the transfer fees up against the money we have made in transfers will be be in profit !!!
 
Which isn't a bad thing I agree but to get to the next level under 'Arry, AVB or even Mourinho you need to push it that bit further and Levy will not go that extra mile. Plus we have played 2 games in the League that in effect we have not contested because the squad has been in limbo not knowing who's coming and who's going because Levy has to try and save a few quid here and there by hanging on until the very last second literally !!!!
 
It happens every year and to be honest the teams that almost always start well Chelski, Man Ure etc etc do all there business early and get on with it, time that numb nuts Levy realises that we need to get all this s**te done early and stop conceding ground at the start of the League that we never get back !!!!!!!!!!!!

Yep I agree with that, except I think the problem was mainly Modric, which needed sorting before any more transfers in could be sorted. It would seem that Real were also playing hardball over the price, resulting in Levy accepting 30 million to get the deal done, meanwhile he does seem to be making attempts to bring in at least 3 more players. We will all know by 11 pm Friday, and lets hope whoever we end up with settle down and start winning some games.

Modric was made a problem by Levy, Modric was always going this season but Levy wanted his pound of flesh. Knowing that he was going anyway why didn't he just do the business and get it out of the way at least that way the squad would of been in place for the first game of the season.
Personally as you may of noticed I don't think AVB will be the messiah in fact I just think he's going to be a naughty boy but at least Levy could of given him the ammunition to try right from the word go. Now we are going to be waiting for players to find their feet and blend in so that will be another 6-8 games of indecision and mediocre results.... like I say the same every year !!!!!
