Who will be the Captain?
« on: August 22, 2012, 12:57:53 PM »
With Dawson gone and Ledley moving onto other ventures within the club
who will be this season's Captain?

Can see why Dawson might not fit into AVB's plans with him planning to run a high line.
Kaboul, Vertonghen, Gallas, Caulker are adept in this role whereas Dawson wasn't the quickest
of players coming back. Although he did have other qualities.

So will it be Parker, Kaboul or ............

Dawson has not gone anywhere yet. I can see Parker getting the armband, though. Van der Vaart could be the vice-captain.

I think Livermore is a complete waist of time, so my bet is he will be the next captain.

Spurs have accepted an offer in excess of 9m from QPR for Dawson.

Latest is that this deal, although previously reported as done has now hit a snag.
Good news as it would be good if he stayed.

But already Stoke and Sunderland have jumped on the bandwagon and are offering around 10m.

Wish everyone who pulled on a Spurs shirt played with the pride and love for the club that Jake Livermore does. He is a smashing young lad who would run through brick walls for the club and play any position he was asked without question. There may be more talented players, Jake would agree, but he deserves his place in the squad.

I have always rated Dawson. Ahead of other CBs that have played for England down the years. However much it is a shame to see him go the situation is not easy to pass judgment on. If Kaboul and eventually Vertognen are the first choice pairing then Dawson would have to wait for his chance. If he has stated that he would like to play first team football, then maybe Spurs respected what he has done for the club and allowed that to happen, without the saga of Modric.

As for Captains my choices would be
1. Parker
2. Kaboul
3. VDV
Maybe next year...

You got your wish on Thursday in Athens.

Good goal but needs more match play to get his sharpness back.
