I always know how well any football manager will do. Sorry, one exception, I thought Hoddle would do well, but I was wrong. If you study their history, the answer is there. Forget Porto, as it was the only decent side in a pub league. He also won the European pub cup. Porto are doing just the same without him. I would look more closely at Chelsea. I get fed up with people blaming the players and the owners. Do you honestly believe he was told to go in a pi55 off the best players, of course not. He was told to start building for the future. It's not his fault but he is to young to manage at this level, and he hasn't helped himself by surrounding himself with inexperience. I believe that by Friday we will have one heck of a first team, albeit we still haven't got much depth. Unfortunately, our manager will let us down.

What the hell have negative opinions got to do with being a good supporter. I go to all the games at home and a fair few away. I say lots of negative things, but still sing my little heart out at games. Some so called supporters never go to any games, but do buy a shirt once a year and say positive things on forums such as this. Please tell me, who is the better supporter ?

I used to go to most Spurs games when I lived in London. Unfortunately, my job & geographical sitution forbid me to do that at present, but the fact that I do not go to matches does not make me a less worthy supporter in the same way you are not necessaraly a better supporter for having the luck to be able to go to matches.

Yes I am married and yes I constantly make negative remarks about my old woman. For a moment I thought you knew me.

For the record I have a 120 mile round trip to WHL. I know a season ticket holder who lives in Aberdeen and two who live in Belgium. Geography is no reason to not attend some games.

Thanks for the advice baldbloke. I would love to be able to attend more games and I would make an effort if I could afford to take the time off as I have to fly over a 2 day period. Cost with my lads woud be in excess of £450 in all per game.  Not easy.

Still,  I love my club and I will continue to support it from here, even if AVB b@@ls it up for us.

I think the one thing we are all sharing is frustration. I am afraid that watching Spurs so far this season has been a pretty soul destroying experience.
Lesser teams [no insult intended,well not much of one] have shown more desire and more determination and will to win than us. We seem to get the ball into the opposition half and then just run out of ideas/running/ hope. We have seen this before hence the frustration.
I still feel sorry for Defoe , running around trying to somehow be an entire attacking force. But even more so I feel sorry for Dawson
'Nope we don't want you ,you're too slow and we're going to ship you out. Opps Younes has had a wee accident, so we still don't really want you but we might need you, so you're staying.'
Now that is a grand way to build confidence and team spirit, wasn't he club captain last season!!!


What is missing is the flair the creativity the guts. Dembele looked damn good though but I am already yearning for the sight of a hobbling VDV spraying passes around and conducting the game.
By all means I agree with giving AVB a chance but so far he is not looking to long term I just can't see the plan

No, it is not about blaming Villas-Boas, it's the fact that Redknapp was sacked and replaced with someone who in Levy's books should be a great improvement (as it was when Jol was replaced with Ramos). Does not seem to be the case, though. There is a saying If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Collapse can happen because of many causes. Many players were injured and/or carrying knocks. The cover for positions was inadequate (why on Earth were so many players loaned out?). Eventually the team lost a game, lost another one, became nervous, cramped up, our rivals were at the same time playing well and the rest is history, as they say.

Manager is a manager, not a magician. I don't think anyone was happy with how we were playing but what can one actually do. I don't think Redknapp didn't try to motivate the team. Of course he did. The players - for many different reasons - failed to respond. And as it usually is with Spurs - on many occasions we actually played some very good football, but as we know, football is not about style-points, but about goals.

All in all, you are probably right (and it has been stated by many others before) - Redknapp wanted to strengthen, Levy declined. Results went downhill and instead of looking in the mirror Levy booted Redknapp out. Same old song and dance. Spurs are not the first club to go down this road and won't be the last. Unfortunately, we will probably witness a similar situation sooner rather than later.

PS I don't have anything against Villas-Boas, I just think that managing Spurs could prove difficult for him because of his inexperience and previous stint at Chelsea. He probably came to Spurs not knowing enough about Levy's style and antics and blindly believing Levy's visions and promises.

Some good points, but he needs time to at least work with the new players
