Van der Vaart

Looks likely he will stay. Does Avb play him on the right of a forward 3? We looked unbalanced when he played there last year and maybe lacks the pace for that position fulltime? With Modric leaving could he been our playmaker in the midfield 3 instead?

I see him as the central midfielder who could play in front of Parker and Sandro.

I agree mate, so wonder if we will spend all the modric money on a direct replacement like moutinho when we already have rafa?! maybe a youngster like oscar that can be more of a squad player to start with alongside siggy and jake

I cannot see Parker being dropped. Although, he could miss the start of the season because of his Achilles' injury.

I really hope to see Huddlestone, but he has been out for such a long time, it could take a while to get back in the side. Don't forget we have Sandro as well but he'll be at the Olympics...

Walker        Kaboul    Vertonghen       BAE

The only problem I can see with this line up is a lack of pace in the middle

good line up though! I dont think lennon scores enough to be a regular starter in a 4 3 3, hopefully we can sign someone with pace and height so they can act as back up for adebayor too!

Sigurdsson is an attacking player, he would not play as deep as Parker. But yeah, it's a good line-up.

Ok Siggardsson alongside Van der Vaart, but what about Sandro, Huddlestone, Livermore, Jenas (ha ha) do we really need Moutinho ?

I would say we need another winger preferably a left footer !!!

If you move Siggardsson up it reminds me a bit of the fantastic five we had under Ossie Anderton, Barmby, Dumitrescu, Sheringham and Klinsmann !!!!

Right, you all need putting straight. First of all, the only place VDV can play is in the hole. He is crap  out on the wing and he can't defend to save his life. I just wish he was capable of playing 90 minutes actually. Anyway, I still think he may be sold, and to be honest I wouldn't e that bothered.

For those of you who want to see Huddlestone back, let me ask you a question. Do you think any of the top 4 or 5 clubs other than us would be interested in signing him. Well ?

There was also a comment I read about AVB not wanting to drop Parker. Whilst I still believe AVB to be the worst manager I have ever seen, he does like to see his players play good football. Scotty Parker has a big heart and is a good tackler. Put the ball at his feet and you may as well be giving it to me. I would expect Scotty to spend most of his time on the bench next season, and Sandro to step up.
AVB OUT, AND TAKE LEVY WITH YOU

as riffhard's line up suggests the hole is his beat place. He drops deep anyway to start the moves. Its a squad game and Huddlestone will play his part. His partnership with Modric in the run in a couple of seasons ago was fantastic. Neither were a ball winner. Parker will surely be a shout for captain though so guessing will start the season still

And that's his role. He used to score vital goals for WHU, but i think he is the ball winning midfielder we need. Sandro could be his cover or play when Scotty cannot. van der Vaart, Modrić, or even Sigurdsson cannot defend to save their lives. And Huddlestone, despite his size is a realtively soft player. Capello played Parker in the defensive hole and that's when he cemented his place in England's starting XI.

For me VDF is a latter day Teddy Sherringham. Not too much pace but a wizard football brain, and capable of playing in the very best sides, as they both have proved. So that said, I very much hope we keep him. Failing that, I see Sandro improving all the while, and taking over that role.
