He isn't, but why would anyone think that a manager that who has only managed the best players in the world and had an almost bottomless pit of money, do well at a club which has somewhat lesser players and a chairman who is as tight as a ducks bottom ?

Who would you like to be our manager then? You often tell us what is wrong but can you put your head on the line?

1.) Who would you choose for our next manager?

2.) Who do you think we will get?

My first choice would be a bloke called Arry Redknapp, but that won't happen. If push came to shuv I would TRY and get Moyes. The person we will get, and I really believe that he is the worst manager I have ever seen in the prem, is AVB. We are well and truly doomed !!

I agree with you totally if we have to have someone then Moyes would be better than most but I am still holding out for Laurent Blanc, don't know why .....just seems to be the best of a poor selection in my eyes !!!

Two steps forward three steps back .... that's the Spurs way it seems like the Chairman and board get scared when we get close and pull the plug just before we get there because they are frightened it might cost more than £30 and some luncheon vouchers !!!!!!

If the papers are to be believed, then AVB will be confirmed in next 24 hrs or so.

In which case there are 2 alternatives. Get behind him and give him a chance to show what he can do, with a clean start, and no rebels like Terry Drogba and Lampard making life impossible for him. Bale has re-signed, so he must rate him. The other alternative is to go support some other team. I know what I will be doing.

I still dont believe Harry was sacked fo just footballing reasons. He must have overstepped the mark with Levy when he was first mooted for the England job, which most people, Levy included, thought he would be offered, and take.

Therefore Levy was doing the only thing he could do, by looking for the next manager to take the club forwards. Never mind poor old Harry saying " This club can challenge for the title, and I am sad that I wont be part of it" Thats such bulls**t. He was off, and bugger Spurs and their supporters. Bear that in mind.

The key for me is to bring in the right sort of quality, young players. No more of these 30 something used to be top players.

We can start with Verthongen, Sigurdsson, and maybe Hugo Lloris. Thats the way forwards I'm sure. Harry did a great job for us in the short term, but we need to build something long lasting, in the same way Fergie and Wenger have done.

Totally agree with the above post .Harry would have been off like a shot given even a sniff of a chance of a bigger job .Levy did the right thing in my opinion .I think AVB will do a good job but i`ll be behind whoever is appointed .

So when Levy offered 'Arry a new 4 year deal to stay at WHL worth £12 million he was doing it for a laugh !!! 'Arry was honest enough to say that he would like the opportunity to speak to England if they came calling, which they didn't so he went back to Levy and said Ok lets talk about my new deal and Levy says f**k Off you can't have one anymore !!!

I want to know what changed Levy was prepared to fall over himself to keep 'Arry when he thought he was England's man and when he found out he wasn't he dumps him !!!

I'm sorry but I really don't see what 'Arry did that was so wrong even his comments in and on the media although slightly fool hardy were still nothing to write home about, no more than any other manager in 'Arrys position trying to bolster his bargaining position !!!

At the end of the day we have dumped the best "English" manager in the Premier League to bring in a man who lasted less than 6 months at one of our local rivals, and it also looks like we are reverting back to a management system that put us in the mess that 'Arry got us out of !!!

Cutting our nose off to spite our face comes to mind and if any of you out there are deluded enough to think that AVB will do a better job than 'Arry then Levy has managed to brain wash you too !!!

Now that AVB is dead and burried before he even starts, let's look for a new manager....Or perhaps we should give him a chance. personally, I think he will do well!  :nods:

You base this theory on AVB doing well on what ?

His Portugese Career ? where I might point out he inherited the top team in Portugal and guided them to win 3 trophies and then left 1 year and 19 days later to manage Chelski (and we need say nothing about his time there)

He is an inexperienced 34 year old who has managed two Portugese sides and been sacked by Chelski after 10 months, OK he was an assistant to Jose Mourinho but Brian Kidd was Fergies assistant and look where that got him. To top it all he hasn't even played the game at any credible level and you quite happy and willing to give him a chance at our beloved Tottenham !!!!!

I just hope he dosen't turn up with a tube ticket because we've been there before !!!!

Nicely put SJ, we have to look at an appointment like AVB being a positive one, we aint Chelsea and he will be inheritting a hell of a team! We may not get him yet there is that little issue!

THFC "COYS" and that is all I have to say about that!

I really cannot get my head around why Harry wanting the England job is a bad thing in some Spurs fans eyes. He is not disloyal for wanting the biggest job in English football. Get over yourselves Spurs fans. He is not even a spurs supporter so has even less to keep him here.

The real question is his commitment. If Harry stayed at Spurs after not being offered the England job would he be 100% committed to improving us and taking them further up the league? - Well I personally think that would be a yes. Believe it or not, he is able to say I want to be England manager and also giving a 100% to spurs. (but not at the same time possibly)

I think Ugs is bang on with his idea about Levy wanting him to sign a contract too. He was only in it for the money he thought he would get. If Harry had signed it, would Levy of sacked him after he did not get the England job. If the answer is no, then Levy is not making his decisions based on footballing reasons, but financial ones. I can see this whole episode back firing and it will be us supporters who have to suffer.

Harry has GONE......
So much debate about the England job, Levy, if this, if that, but at the end
of the day by all accounts AVB is now the new manager.
Lets give AVB a chance.

I for one wish him the best of luck and hope he continues, if not
helps the team to improve on the last few seasons performance.
Maybe now we won't have the end of transfer window "bargains" to
stir the blood but a seasoned campaign to improve the squad from the start.

I'm in total agreement. We must sort out the players we need and NOW. By the looks of it Verthonghen and Sigurdsson are coming, well thats a start. Now for 1 / 2 strikers as well.

For me some of you aren`t seeing the whole picture .I don`t blame harry for wanting the england job , any manager would surely fancy it .Two things bother me .Firstly , he`s been talking himself up as the next england manager for a lot longer than this past season .He said either last season or the season before . "If you were offered the job , as an englishman you wouldn`t be able to turn it down" .So he was putting himself in the frame from an early stage .He had every intention of walking as soon as it was offered whether it be sooner or later .Secondly , when AVB got the sack and harry was touted as the next chelsea manger he refused to rule himself out of the running .So yet again he would have walked out for a supposedly "better" job. Fast forward to may and when his better options are off the table he wants to sign a new contract at spurs .f**k off ! He should have shown a bit of loyalty when it was needed not when it suited .

Just to answer ugg`s point about AVB being inexperienced and not playing the game at any credible level .

Yeh he's that bloke that inherited a great Woolwich Wanderers team and added a few of his country men he knew all about guided them well for a couple of years until the defence all grew to old and hasn't won anything for 7 years !!

Yeh I've heard of him and he's an overrated arsehole who thinks he a footballing god .... and I wouldn't want him in charge of my beloved Tottenham !!!

He also won them the double double and has had them in the champions league every year and when he was in charge we beat them once in 10 years . .The point i`m making is he was unknown and inexperienced and hadn`t played at a high level .

Agreed. Whats most important is the players he is able to bring in over next 2-3 years.
