Modric, Bale, Lennon and Van der Vaart created plenty of chances in fact Modric was 3rd and Bale 4th overall in the premier league last season in the chances created stats, so I'm afraid you can't level that at him. Yes he could score more goals but then you would lose some of the creative element of his game, I'm afraid when its comes down to it his team mates have let him down by not converting the chances he creates !

 >:(

You quote me as if you are disagreeing with what I have said. But you then go on to say things I agree with. I am not saying that I do not value Modric as a player. Look back over the posts which are critical of modric, and you will see how I look beyond direct assists. stating how he creates the openings for the other players to get the assists from. My criticisms of his play are only things that would see him be an even better player. Without question his finishing is not good enough. I do not expect him to change his role within the team, but at times he does not take the option to shoot when he should and when he does, it can be a pretty weak effort, with no power or craft to beat the keeper. So I stand firm on that and I can level that at him. Quoting stats is not enough for me, I like to judge the player on what I see, not fall into the statistical trap of proving what you are looking for.

As for signing another creative midfielder and saying to Modric Ok leave if you want because we don't need you, only David Silva and Juan Mata have a better record than Modric last season so where the f**k we are going to find someone for £25 million who can do a better job is beyond me ! Oh and Luca Man Ure want you, so do Chelski and Citeh who are all going to pay you three times as much money a week and you get to play Champions League and you won't have all the pressure of the team on you to create all the chances..... oh and one more thing you might just win a trophy or two !

I never said we would find another creative midfielder of that quality for 25 million. But if the team wants to be in control of who plays for us rather than the player having all the power, then we are going to need to change our policy. By making the first move we are saying we still have a vision, we are still aiming high and if Modric does not want to take responsibility for his part in us not being as success as we could have been, then we will try and find someone who will.

If you were Luca Modric what would you do ? I think you know the answer to that it goes without saying, it's a no brainer !!!

I know, that is my point. If we want Modric to think differently, we have to act differently.

Wake and smell what your shovelling, us not finishing 3rd and the fact that we are dragging our feet over 'Arry and players we are trying to sign says it all. Unless theres a major change in our transfer thinking (probably easier to move Everest shovel by shovel load than move Levy!!) then we are not going to be able to fight off the Big boys very long !!!!!!!

I don't need to wake up, I can smell it perfectly well thank you and I do not like it. If we want to be considered a big club we have to make some changes for how we approach things. I do not want us to go crazy and build a side that is not financially strong, too many clubs have suffered with this policy, but that does not mean we should not bring one or two top players to our club each and every season and strengthen the squad with good players as needed.

Something deeper is obviously going on within the club, probably involving Redknapp. Maybe we will get the answer today. If he gets the contract he wants, then I guess he might get the players we need, otherwise I think its back to the drawing board with god knows who at the helm.

This is exactly what we do not need right now (if the rumours about Redknapp leaving are true). Something is wrong.

So Harry has gone and so it will be back to the drawing board for sure.
I hope the new manager is soon in place otherwise this transfer window
could be one to forget with more departures, that we don't want to hear
about, than signings.

Looks like Modric wants to head to Real Madrid with the price touted as 30 mill, not to a premiership rival, good!

Talk of us doing a part exchange VDV for Huntlelaar. With his team having such a poor Euros this is now a viable option. I think VDV is a great player but do not think we ever really managed to find the system to suit him, or at least which suited the other players as well. We could be heading towards a more orthodox 442 or changing to a 433 if Bale stays he could push up on the left of Huntlelaar, just need someone on the right. hmm anyone french who could play that role? Loic Remy anyone?

But we would need another midfielder to replace Modric, not sure on that one yet.

How I could see or would like to see Spurs setting up next year: 433

                                       Friedel
Walker     Vertonghen                Kaboul         Ekotto

          Huddlestone        Parker         Modric
         (or Livermore)                         (or replacement)

              Remy            Huntlelaar            Bale

or 442

                                       Friedel
Walker     Vertonghen                Kaboul         Ekotto

Lennon            Parker               Modric             Bale
                                         (or replacement)

                      Remy            Huntlelaar

On his Wikipedia page Nuri Sahin's current club is listed as Tottenham.

So some good news at last with Bale signing a new contract.
Certainly a positive step.
Luka Modric to Real Madrid with Sahin not yet a done deal as Modric
is on holiday but cash and player deal isn't too bad.
Will have to wait on VDV but can see him still being at N17 next season.
