Four more to go
« on: June 04, 2012, 12:37:47 PM »
There is a lot of speculation going around at the moment, as there always is,
about Harry's future with the club will he stay or will he go.

Now Bale is muttering that he wants to see what Harry does before he makes
a decision.
VDV is not ruling out a move to Schalke.
Then of course there is Modric not making his mind up until after the Euros.

With a massive depletion with the possible Eleven to go will we even have a team
next season!!!!

Yeap as usual the speculation regarding our manager and key players is s**t! luckily the season is over.

Cant blame Levy not wanting to give Arry a long term contract as we nose dived when good old loyal arry was publically wanking off the FA in constant reminders about the England job.  I mean we were pissed imagine how levy felt its his dosh!

I say give Arry a 1-2 year contract with targets to achieve with a view to an extension and of course suitable transfer funds to achieve the targets either that or have him and half the team go, meaning I can watch THFC in Bristol season after next when they come to play Bristol City in the Championship!
THFC "COYS" and that is all I have to say about that!

One the one hand we have Vertonghen wishing to join us and on the other,  another possible top 4 players leaving.  Quite scary,  but not too far from reality and definitely not surprising.

I have and will always blame Harry for our woeful end to the season. He has always denied that the England job had nothing to do with our spectacular 9 game nosedive.  Of course we all know he was covering up and that includes Levy.

I would like to add that the smoke behind the tax evasion court case was the  key factor to the England job. Regardless of the outcome, he would never be in the running.

For obvious reasons, none of us are partticulary looking forward to August. My guess is that after 2 seasons in the top 4,  we will return to our more familiar 8 to 10 spot.  >:(

Not sure why we haven't signed Vertonghen yet. For f**ks sake. How about making a statement of intent to other potential signings instead of the usual?

Pretty much agree with most of that, the exception being Harry to blame for the slump and fall from 3rd place. For me, that one lays mainly on the shoulders of certain players.

Lets look at the facts. We had clawed our way back from 2-0 down away at at Man City, and then Defoe misses a golden chance to win the game. 60 seconds later King gives away the pen. Redknapps fault ??

2-0 up at Ars*nal. Biggest collapse since 3-0 up at home to Man U. Redknapps fault ??

Inability to beat Wolves at home. Redknapps fault ??

Inability to beat the worst Villa side I have ever seen. Again Redknapps fault ??

He can only select a side from the players available, the rest is up to them.

We MUST get the players we need, and NOW. Starting with Verthongen.

IMO to get rid of Redknapp now would be the biggest mistake since we sacked Venables, and before that let Burkinshaw go. 30 years in the doldrums because of bad decisions over the appointment / release of managers.

Continuity is the key we MUST keep Redknapp for the next 2 or 3 seasons and allow him to continue with the work he has started.

I agree that Redknapp has made mistakes and sometimes his tactical choices are ......... different but where were we before he came and look at the squad we now have we have improved under 'Arry every season now is not the time too rip it up and start all over !!!!!

I think Kranjcar is confirmed. Modric is just paper talk.

Honestly, if Modric wants to go I say let him go. He's a great player, but players can be replaced. United had to let Ronaldo go. There's no point trying to build a team around a player who wants to leave.

So long as we get 40 mill for Modric then I would sell him ASAP and use that money towards rebuilding the defence and attack. MOVE ON !!

If we sell Modric to another prem rival, then it has to be top dollar, but don't think we would get more than 35 mill for him. If it is to a club on the continent 25 mill would be more like the amount we should expect. I would rather he stayed because he took some responsibility for us not finishing 3rd. (he is a great player but does not score enough goals, and needed to craft more chances for others to score).

Again we are slow moving in the transfer market. If we are going to sell these players we should be making some top signings before we let the likes of modric go. If we went out and bought a quality midfielder first, it would be a statement of intent and says to Modric, we don't need you anymore but if you want to stay, we are going places. But this does not happen.

Where is the striker we have been desperate for. We should have bought someone before the end of the season and the Euros, knowing the contract would go through on the 1st July. (unfortunately, like our rivals). I would love us to sign Huntlelaar big, strong, great technique and scores goals for fun, but after the Euros that will never happen.
Maybe next year...

Modric, Bale, Lennon and Van der Vaart created plenty of chances in fact Modric was 3rd and Bale 4th overall in the premier league last season in the chances created stats, so I'm afraid you can't level that at him. Yes he could score more goals but then you would lose some of the creative element of his game, I'm afraid when its comes down to it his team mates have let him down by not converting the chances he creates !

As for signing another creative midfielder and saying to Modric Ok leave if you want because we don't need you, only David Silva and Juan Mata have a better record than Modric last season so where the f**k we are going to find someone for £25 million who can do a better job is beyond me ! Oh and Luca Man Ure want you, so do Chelski and Citeh who are all going to pay you three times as much money a week and you get to play Champions League and you won't have all the pressure of the team on you to create all the chances..... oh and one more thing you might just win a trophy or two !

If you were Luca Modric what would you do ? I think you know the answer to that it goes without saying, it's a no brainer !!!

Wake and smell what your shovelling, us not finishing 3rd and the fact that we are dragging our feet over 'Arry and players we are trying to sign says it all. Unless theres a major change in our transfer thinking (probably easier to move Everest shovel by shovel load than move Levy!!) then we are not going to be able to fight off the Big boys very long !!!!!!!

We really are a club in limbo, aren't we?  >:( The only confirmed news regarding transfers is that we have sold yet another valuable first team player (yes, I consider Kranjćar to be one). s**t, I appreciate Levy trying to do business but this is a football club not a f**king money-making scheme. After the fiasco of the last season the club really should change direction and change thinking. EURO 2012 is starting tonight and after that... well, dimexi said it all, really.

Admittedly Nico didn't seem to get too many chances, but how come not 1 prem club tried to sign him if he's that good ?? Maybe another Sergai Rebrov. Something about those East Europeans it seems
