I would be inclined to agree with the above analagy, that he is undoubtably top class. However, I would sooner lose him than Bale, who for me is far more agressive, and delivers a world class final ball time and again. Unfortunately we dont have a world class striker on the end of it !!
Imagine if we had a young Clive Allen / Gary Linekar playing in the same side as Bale.

Going back to Modric, for sure he would benefit playing in a better team, in the same way as Carrick has, because he would get fractionally more time on the ball, and fractions make all the difference at that level.

Put Modric in any world class midfield and he would hold his own, as would Bale.

You only know how good a player was when he has gone!! ie Berbatov, Carrick. Put Modric in the Chelsea, Man U, ManC team and he will be a huge success because he will be playing with world class players, put him in the Wigan team and you will wonder what he does!!!!
If he goes it will be a huge gap to fill and a step backwards for the team bearing in mind we need 2 new strikers a new centre back we have Huddlestone coming back but there is still a question mark if he is mobile enough.

Agreed about Huddlestone. However I think if Chelsea / Man U are prepared to pay Modric £ 150k for 4 years, then we will not be able to stop him leaving. IMO we should make him and Bale the tops on around £125 - £150 if we are serious about keeping them. There is no other way.

If Spurs were to sell Modrić and/or Bale (which I doubt), I'd rather see them sold to foreign clubs.

Needs to make his mind up whether he is staying or going.


Then if he stays through his wishes and not reluctantly we would see Luka Modric
at his best which is what we want.
With better players around him of course he would look better as there would be more openings

Agreed as our midfield is flooded, we have class in many areas and have JJ and Bentley retruning at back up.  Add a quality keeper to you list also as Brad wont last forever and it seems Gomes time is nearly over with us.

RSS is right but I would like to a top striker firstly, it's looking like Vertonghen is very close as long as Levy will stump up the cash and if there is any money left a LB although BAE has his moments he's better than 75% of the Prem left backs, and Rose is OK as cover !

Make you right about Joke Jenas and Bentley. Yeah BAE will do for now. I get the feeling Harry's given up with Defoe, same as he did with Keane Bent Crouch and Pav. Trouble is, he hasn't replaced them. Thats the main reason we didn't piss 3rd place. Fingers crosed for Vertonghen, he should help sort the back 4 out.

JV the deal is at risk as Levy is trying to be to clever as usual with the transfer fee, we risk losing him to Le Arse if they meet the valuation or go closer than us!

Maybe 5 years ago but now they are has beens we have moved on and to be fair they are no longer of the quality to be utility players for us. If you think otherwise then you are deluded my friend both Bentley and Jenas have both had long term injuries that would require a sustained run in the side to regain fitness let alone form and we know that just ain't gonna happen.

Apart from his wonder goal, Bentley has never been any good. Then he poured a bucket of iced water all over Harry to seal his fate.
As for Jenas, I really dont remember anything good about him. Lack of fitness springs to mind.
