I'm beginning to get angered by Redknapp's decision not to start with Jermain Defoe, the fact is, he is such a good finisher who has proven to boost the teams moral when he plays, yet is never given the chance to start.. what an earth is Redknapp thinking?
what are your thought on the subject?

It puzzles me, even when he's banging them away, he gets benched.

My best guess would be his overall contribution / work-rate and his small stature.

One thing to remember is that 'Arry sees all his players everyday at training and I can only guess that Defoe is obviously not showing on a day to day basis !!!!

In the Chelsea game we needed a stronger midfield, and therefore I believe Arry did the right thing. I think we need to rotate our strikers depending on the game in hand. It will be interesting to see what he does over the next few games

At Chelsea we played 4-5-1 and Defoe has no place in that. Home matches against weaker sides, we can probably play 4-4-2 with VDV in for Sandro, and Defoe/Ade up front.
Unfortunately Defoe never seems to grab his chances fully when he does play, and aside from the occasional well struck shot on goal, dosen't do too much. He appears to benefit from Lennon playing as well, but then what about VDV.
Personally I have always liked Defoe from day 1, but he just dosen't seem to fit our set up. Bit like Pav I suppose.

He can be very very selfish at times. It is frustrating for the fans, God knows what it must be like for his team mates.

Totally agree he can sometimes be so blind to his team mates that he will shoot from a completely ridiculous angle or distance, when a simple pass or through ball would be so much better and more productive !!!!

Don't get me wrong I wouldn't want him playing anywhere else but he can be very frustrating at times !!!

We saw all we need to know about defoe and his spoilt little brat antics last night .Bottom line is he;s selfish ;not ateam player; and ultimately if we ever want to go to the next level i;m sorry but there;s no room for jermaine in the 1st team .

I'm sorry to say you are right. Had we been playing Man Utd instead of Bolton, and 2-1 up with 5 minutes to go, his greed in not passing to Bale to finish the match could have resulted in us losing rather than winning, with our track record for conceding late goals.
Once Harry's situation is resolved, we need to bust the bank for a top striker. Defoe will never change his ways after all these years, hence why he constantly gets overlooked by England.

Some say that true striker should be selfish. I don't agree at all. Look  at Van Persie, not to mention Messi.Top class and both team players. Selfishness is only one of Defoe's sins. This guy can't keep the line. Permanently off side. Ok, I understand, when you play very high, it happens. But not 4 of 5 times. He's so focused on himself, that can't read the game. Of course I'm  not saying Jermain is a bad player, but not one who makes difference. So, Harry's decisions are understandable for me.

A bit harsh Riff, wouldn't have him back now a bit too old but still a good player and made us a fortune LOL
