I hope we can win both our remaining home games and blow out in the away games so Liverpool can finish above us. I know there are those of you out there that will condone me for this, but I bet you ARE'NT season ticket holders !!

Hiya Baldie - our two remaining home games are Blackpool and Brum - both bottom sides with whom we have struggled - daft as it may seem to the neutral. Chelsea away will be a nightmare big loss and the Liverpool/City games too long beyond us at the moment, especially with Harry tinkering with the squad as if its a plaything

No thanks. Give me Europa league football over no European football at all ( from a home and away season ticket holder)

As the great man once said: "It's magnificent to be in Europe, and this club - a club like Tottenham Hotspur - if we're not in Europe.... we're nothing. we're nothing."

There was a time when I did say the same. That I'd rather not qualify for Europa if we blow it this season. I think we've got to keep pushing though. What if we don't get the striker we want in the next window because we fail to qualify for the CL? I know Europa isn't the CL, but it would be something to change the subject with when concerned transfer target striker #157 watches us lose to Wigan. Assuming that's how it goes again and it's a circus on the last day.

The problem with the Europa League as I see it is it is just to many games. You have to play 19 games to win it, which is half a regular season plus travelling to the back of beyond and back again. And then nobody cares if you do win the damn thing. It is a consolation prize, and not a very good one at that. If we are to get back to the CL we need our players fit and fresh and focused on the Prem. If we qualify then so be it, but use it as a testing ground for the upcoming and fringe players and concentrate our 1st team efforts on the main prize of trying to win The Prem or at least finishing in top 4

I appreciate your sentiments, however the theory that the less games players play make them fresher and thus better is unproven. Man Utd probably play more games than anyone else and still win cup after cup. We must not forget these players do not hold down full time jobs, and playing twice a week every week for an hour and a half should not be any great effort for a well tuned athlete. I do agree however that our players have suffered from a mental problem and have not focused properly on the league. For that I blame Arry

I want to see us in Europe, pref CL (not happening this season) or Europa.  If we make the latter I say we use it to develop players and give fringe players more game time to aid with our development.  Arry can tinker in that comp much as he likes.

THFC we should be playing in Europe!
THFC "COYS" and that is all I have to say about that!

It makes me laugh that people are happy for Liverpool to overtake us for 5th.  I mean if that is the attitude, then what is the point in being a football fan? if you don't care about winning, then there is no point in taking part.

I struggle to see the logic in this argument.  Hate to bring people back down to earth but the outside world do not consider us to be one of Europe's (or even England's) big clubs past or present.  One season in the CL unfortunately has not changed this.  I too have been living in a dreamland for the past season, I have loved it but the dream was nice when it lasted but lets not lose grip with reality. I don't know where this arrogance comes from and find it embarrassing.

No one is more gutted than I am that we will not be in the CL next season but EL is much better than nothing.  It separates us from the also rans, it gives us a chance to win another trophy (and it is not as if they have been flooding through the door in the 30 years).

I mean when did we get so picky?  If we had won the CL or the EPL a few times in a row I could understand the argument.  But to be where we are to want to finish 6th over 5th, not to want to be in Europe at all.  To want Liverpool to finish above us.  It is embarrassing.  Where will it stop?  Mabve we should throw a few matches next season to make the end of the season more exciting with a relegation dogfight?  After all its only a few league places, what's the point?  It is embarrassing.  we should strive to finish as high as possible.

Next season, these words will come back to haunt you, I'm sure of it.  Things are only going to get tougher and we need to show to potential players that we are contenders.  We need to separate ourselves from Bolton, Everton and Sunderland and be associated with Liverpool, Chelsea and Man U.  What ever a few deluded fans may think, this hasn't happened yet and we are a long way off.  Finishing 5th will be another step on this journey.

Like it or not, the top 3 will continue to remain constant, things won't change there in a hurry.

Now City have champion's League football, there is nothing going to stop the top players from going there in the future.  Champion's League could become that bit more unobtainable.

Liverpool have the worldwide reputation to attract players that we just don't have.  Anyone who thinks otherwise is kidding themselves.  They can also spend more money then we can hope to.  It will be tough to finish in the top 5 next season.  We could be dreaming of having 5th in touching distance at this stage of the season.

Lets get a bit of spirit going, get 5th, try and keep hold of the players we have got and look to build where possible and knuckle down for the fight of our life next season.  The fight that will determine whether we continue our proud run of contenders for CL positions vs Mid table also rans.

Full of excellent points mate and well written! I agree with what you have said regarding the European competitions.

Just looks as if 5th may well be difficult

That obviously comes from someone that doesn't go to the games. I on the other hand will be sent tickets that I will have to try to sell on. Our Saturday games will be moved to a Sunday, and for what. A Micky Mouse trophy other football supporters laugh about.

"A Micky Mouse trophy other football supporters laugh about."

Utter nonsense.  I guess these other supporters are in awe of our overflowing cabinet of trophies.  Get a grip on reality.
