Ledley King is set to hand Tottenham a massive boost by returning to the side for this week's Uefa Cup clash with Sevilla.

The England international has been out of action since Boxing Day with knee and foot injuries.

Spurs have been reluctant to rush the defender back, but assistant manager Chris Hughton believes his return will boost the side's chances of overturning their first leg defeat to Sevilla.

"We've missed Ledley's captaincy but also what he brings as a man and a defender, and having him back will be a big thing for us,"  Hughton told the Mirror.

"Nobody has been more frustrated than Ledley at being out and he is absolutely desperate to show what he can do for us.

"I can't speak highly enough of the qualities he will give us.

"The people who have filled in have done a great job but Ledley is our captain and has great respect from everybody and we have missed him."

Brilliant news, it will great to see him back in the team. COYS!

'll be a massive boost to get him back but dont expect miracles. Remember what happened to us at the start of the season while he and dawson were our regulars then? plus hes just off the back of an extremely long injury. Its not gonna be easy for him

Fantastic news

Ledley is Mr. Tottenham and could be the difference between us getting through against Seville or not.

It would be a massive boost to have him back for thursday.  We need to be more solid at the back, that would give others the confidence to push forward.

Good call, I just hope hes not being rushed back. I know all this stuff from the management about not rushing him back, but with such a crucial game coming up, you do have too wonder if this return is kinda planned to coincide with Sevilla at home.

At least he didn't do an Henry and run onto the pitch whenever one of his teams mates scored.

Doubt he will last the full 90. Do you expect to see him come off on 65-70mins or play a heroic 90?

If he plays i think he'll definately start, how many times do you see defenders come on for another unless its tactical or timewasting?

Cant see him lasting a full 90 minutes either tho.

He's had no match time in months and throwing him in at the deep end in the biggest match of our season is beyond stupidity imo, as good as he is we gave them a good run for their money on their own turf and we've been extremely solid at home without him so i would hope to see him not start but to maybe come on IF required.

We'll be more dissapointed risking him and losing him for the rest of the season i.e the semi's and final hopefully than not and getting through with a full team that didn't include him and having him available for them

Brilliant news. For him to play at White Hart Lane instead of playing away will give him a confidence boost aswell, because every Spurs fan will be pleased to see him back. :)

Couldn't agree more.  We can't really throw him in at the deep end like this.

Way to risky IMO. Has he even played in the reserves yet? Couldn't possibly expect him to start without even a practice match first probably do more harm than good.
