So let me get this absolutely clear, Jenas is a better player than both VDV and Modric? Is that what you are saying?
Maybe next year...

I think GK probably has, "Jenas is a better player than both VDV and Modric" tattooed somewhere.

True. You have to be on the pitch to make errors.  :hide:
as Modric the 20m pound purchase needs to play, it makes sense for a predominantly defensive enforcer like Sandra to play next to him.... Jenas-Sandra looked alot better when played later on (Modric was very poor indeed on the day)....

also Jenas can cover a other positions eg. RB as well as CM so it makes sense to have him on the bench.... similarly with Kaboul when fit..

and yes, Jenas is better than Vaart or Modric... for Spurs and the way we naturally play eg. formation and tactics

Modric completed 90% of his passes in the Milan game. A higher pass completion rate than any of our players in that game. Interesting...

thats gotta be THE classic response from any slow-thinker on here  :D

cos we all know that this particular stat is the most important gauge for a CM.... lets forget about the times he cheaply gave the ball away in VERY DANGEROUS AREAS.... lets ignore the times he failed to track his runner leading to alot of Milan's most dangerous moments.... etc etc..... etc...

after all, Modric is a creative player.... amply demonstrated by the so high goals, assists to gametime ratio he has  :2funny:

the final nail in the Modric coffin comes from none other than a Modric fan himself, who for once wasnt blinded by the hype that is Modric..... even Bigv has noticed what an average player he can be, and has been for many games lately...

I suspect strongly Modric will be sold in the summer...

Bale will stay for another season..... with the emergence of Sandra and the returning THudd as well as a versatile Jenas getting regular game possibilities,  Modric will now be sold as he's now worth more as money in the bank than on the pitch for Spurs..

I don't think our transfer strategy is based on your assessment of what a player is worth, GK.

I don't think our transfer strategy is based on your assessment of what a player is worth, GK.

doesnt have to be.... the facts are the facts.

if Modric stays then his cost will force him to be 1st-choice whenever fit... that means we will need a partner who is primarily a defender.... that can only really work if we employ a diamond rather than 2 wingers (which we use).... THudd, Jenas and now Sandra emerging has given Arry & Co. alternatives... we can do quite well without Modric creatively and certainly defensively.... and the 25m for him will be welcome indeed

I thought it would be Bale (may still be), but I now expect us to cash in soon enough on Modric instead...

If that were the case Bentley wouldn't have been sitting on the bench and then loaned out.

It seems like we always have to be selling one of our best players in your eyes, GK. I don't understand it. You obviously don't agree that Modric is one of our best players, but pretend you do just for a moment as Redknapp obviously feels that way. We have played some of our best football and pulled off some of our best results with Modric and Huddlestone, Modric and Palacios and now Modric and Sandro in midfield.

Up until the Milan game when lots of supporters (incorrectly) felt that all Modric did was give the ball away, you're the only person I've ever talked to who thinks that Modric hurts us rather than benefits us. If Spurs/Milan is the game that makes everyone change their minds, don't you think it's interesting he completed more successful passes (90%) than any other Spurs player?

What Modric does do extremely well is play the ball forwards, keep the ball and release our wingers down the flanks. Who else do we have who can do that quite as well? Considering Bale and Lennon are extremely important to our attack I feel that we might struggle a bit if we sell Modric and have to look to someone else to accomplish that.

What a lot of drivel. Fact is I don't care if Modric wandered around all afternoon staring at clouds or if Jenas ran round in small circles chasing his tail. I do care that we have seen off AC Milan and are in in the final 8 of the Champions league. I do care that we outplayed them at the San Siro and shut them out at the Lane. I do care that to a man the team gave it their all. Some were more effective than others but Jesus we never know what we are going to get when Spurs walk out,  Palacious for example Outstanding one game lost the next.. As I have said before that is Spurs, you just never know,...love that.

Oh and i do care about harry. Did anyone else notice the press interviews post Dubai where he had some serious sunburn issues. Come on Harry look after your self, we need you in full health not barbaqued.

Point taken. I just don't understand why people think we need to sell our best players as soon as we've started getting results. What's the point of even aspiring to have nights like that if just to sell the players that got you there?
