Harry Redknapp does not bother about boring Tactic Speeches

Quote
Tottenham midfielder Rafael van der Vaart: Harry Redknapp doesnt bother with boring speeches about tactics      The Dutch midfielder 'feels at home' at White Hart Lane
Tottenham’s Dutch talisman Rafael van der Vaart believes that Harry Redknapp’s relaxed style of management has been key in helping him regain his best form.

Van   der Vaart has made an instant impact at White Hart Lane this season   after his move from Real Madrid in the summer, and is now gaining a   reputation as a goalscoring midfielder to be feared in the Premier   League.

The 27-year-old has also netted seven times for the North   London club this season, with six being at home, and, after admitting   that he found football “boring” under Real manager Jose Mourinho, he   claims Redknapp’s laid back approach is definitely getting the best out   of him.

"Harry is a very special man, that's why I already feel   at home at Spurs. It feels like I'm back on the street," Van der Vaart   told The Sun.

"There are no long and boring speeches   about tactics, like I was used to at Real Madrid. There is a clipboard   in our dressing room but Harry doesn't write anything on it."

Van   der Vaart also described training sessions as being “low-key” affairs,   saying that their recent successes, especially in the Champions League   with the win over holders Inter, was mainly down to teamwork, not   tactics.

"It's not that we do nothing - but it's close to that," he added.

"For instance, last weekend Gareth Bale scored a header against Blackburn from my corner.

"But we didn't train one minute on it, it was pure luck. Good kicking, good heading, nothing more.

"And   our win at home over Champions League winners Inter Milan was a clear   example of playing on intuition. You can't train the goal I scored in   that game."

If it really is true then Harry must have done something right because he is still in the game after all those years. Although I have to admit that relying on luck is always very short-sighted and we've seen it more than some others...

Can you imagine how difficult it would be for Pavs translator to translate a long Redknapp speech about tactics? LOL. I'm assuming he still doesn't speak English.

This doesn't surprise me very much. Our previous manager is big on tactics and look how well that worked for us.

Great article. I find it funny as all managers are very different just as VDV says.

Alex Miller used to be L'Pool assistant manager and loves to think he deserves credit for his tactics that Benitez used in the CL final against AC Milan. In truth at Hibs/Aberdeen and everywhere else he has managed as a number one his football was dire, truely f*cking awful stuff that nobody would want to watch and his results not great.

Some people are great tactitions like Jose, nobody can doubt him after his Inter success last year, no way would Bale have been allowed to roast Maicon like he did if he was still in charge.

Personally i like the sound of laid back Harry after all we have tried and failed to improve under so many before him (Jol being the brilliant exception).

Arry may not give the tactical breakdowns per match.... but then theres Clive, Kev and Joey in the background to do just that..

I think a head-coach SHOULD just concentrate on man-mngt and leave the tactical messaging to the subordinates..

Personally, for me training is for tactics. You have all week to work on the tactics you will use against who ever you are playing next.

I think the dressing room should be for motivational purposes, to get the players in the right frame of mind.

Best things to do is keep it simple, don't over complicate things and confuse the players.

Let them do what they do best...play there positions.

perfect summation Biggsy...... the dressing-room on match-day should be about things other than tactics..... the 3-4 days training presiding should be ALL about tactics...

I think that may be the reason why 'Arry managed to get the best of his players everytime. Although i do hope he can whip up a tactical solution if we are down by 1 during half time. Sometimes luck just isn't enough to help us..

4-2 against  Bolton anyone?

Biggs sums it up perfectly tactics for the training ground and on the day let the players do their magic.

I do think though that if we are trailing or goalless a tactic or 2 can come in handy at the halftime after Ole Arry observing and assessing the opposition.

The players know he belives in them and that goes along way, but now I think alot of theplayers now believe in themselves as we see from the out of character displays recently when we never say die and keep on going.  Then there is the Bolton result  :tickedoff:

Best tactic ever win the ball, pass it about, keep it away from the opposition and stick in in their goal works big time on Fifa  hence why I am not a football manager
THFC "COYS" and that is all I have to say about that!
