What's Happening to Keane????

It's a real pity that Keane is off form. He's an intelligent player with a load of magic that can turn a game in our favour. Hope he gets some time against our old enemy today.

You don't turn from a good player into a bad player just like that.

Yes he hasn't been the same since his return from Liverpool, he started last season ok, but soon found himself down the pecking order and shipped out on loan to Celtic (the team booze up Keane organised behind Redknapps back may have had something to do with that) anyway he returned to Spurs again this summer and had a good pre-season scoring frequently, but since then, yet again Robbie has found it hard to make the 1st 11, even thought he has been a regular for his Country. So he still has some of that Magic Vindo mentioned.

I believe he needs games (like every player). With regular football, Keane will surley bounce back and find the goal trail again, but i fear he won't get regular football at the rate he needs it at the moment. What i'm trying to say is he needs 3 or 4 full 90 minute games, not just cameo roles he and there as Harry looks to keep Pav, Crouch, Gio and VDV happy. He seems to have neglected Keane in my opinion.

I think the Xmas party shenanigans soured Harry's relationship with Keane more than has been revealed. Certainly there has been a loss of trust from Harry's side as evidenced by the reluctance to give him back the captaincy. Keane would, I'm sure, have been sold if there had been any interest in the summer.Robbie Keane is a good pro though and will do his best with the chances he gets to play although he is obviously not as sharp as he was previously. Only when he leaves, maybe in January, will the truth emerge, possibly not even then.

theres obviously a breakdown in trust and passion for playing between Arry and Keano... its so evident in Keano's body language and total lack of excitement/zeal/enjoyment when he does get some time on the pitch... the guy has the facial expression of a robot when coming on nowadays.... the Xmas-party fiasco was a definate water-mark with Arry-Keano..

Arry is quite a vindictive person I think and bears grudges it seems against those that cross him... Bentley is apparently still not forgiven for the barrel of water incident after the Citeh game.... and if you see Arry's reaction on youtube to when he got hit by a ball in training whilest giving a SKy-interview, you will start to see the nasty side of his character usually well hidden in public...

Alot of it is in the moiynd with Keane. His trip to Liverpool not working out must have ripped his heart out. To come back from public disapproval takes some doing and the platform to do so.

As has been said already he needs regular 1st team in order to expel the demons & I cant see him getting it, not nearly enough to straighten his head out quickly anyway.

Maybe with a steady flow of cameos it may come, I think he has to treat it like he is starting from scratch, like a new signing almost & seize every chance by the balls, like his 3 minutes of play conversion on tuesday.

Whatever he does he best hurry up, a 30 year old is classed as experienced in football .....but its not long to 'past it' age

(which gives me an idea for another thread)

I'll admit that I'm usually down on Keane and he typically comes up with a big play to prove me wrong. Doesn't it seem like he's always chasing people around like a man possessed but never really catching anyone, though? While the Ars*nal midfield was stringing together 15-25 passes in a row, there was Keano - chasing...chasing...chasing.
Modric would have intercepted some of those passes without all of the unproductive effort. Jenas could too, but then he would have sprinted in a straight line for 40 yards before falling down. (You know I'm right, Keown) My kingdom for a ruthless and reliable striker. There's got to be someone on the planet who is willing and able to score goals for THFC and wouldn't mind getting on the end of a Bale, VDV, or Lennon cross in the Champions League.
He's strained his left adductor muscle it says. Whats that then ? Do we all have those or just footballers ? I wonder how mine are ? *courtesy of taimedowne*

Good post DS.

Like any player in any position....they need to be playing  frequently to produce there best football and also to keep there fitness up...you dont become a bad player over night and Keane is no bad player...i just hope the fans dont turn on him now...he needs to be supported well from the stands when he comes on, to lift him out of this apparent bad spell he is going through.

Robbie Keane has been a fantastic servent to Tottenham.

^^Agree 100% Derry mate, i will always give every Spurs player support especially Keano because of his service he has done for the club. We get fustrated with our players but at the end of the day we must support them.

I'd love Keano to return to his sparkling form of pre summer 2008 after his fairly disastrous move to Liverpool (as it turned out).

I appreciate what Harry did by saving (wrong choice of word possibly) Robbie from his Merseyside nightmare and bringing him back "home" but since then Robbie has been left out in the dark subsequently loosing his form in front of goal.

At present I don't think his age has much to do with it. Yes he may be knocking on 30 but Drogba is 33. Don't get me wrong I'm not comparing the two. My point is no matter how old the player is (within reason) he can still be a force.

Sadly I honestly feel this season will be the likes of Keane, Pav and possibly Crouch's last seasons for Spurs as we look to get a clinical striker who is more prolific in front of goal in comparison to the 3 I have mentioned. Maybe I would keep Crouch as he seems to be the big time player who has the knack of scoring in the big games e.g. Young Boys and City.
I wouldn't be sad to see the back of Pav however. He looks as he couldn't give a toss 90% of the time which fustrates the hell out of me.

Can't argue with that summing up dedley but I would keep Crouch along with Defoe, gonna need a good run in CL to raise our profile and some cash to attract a big time Charlie tho'
