What Spurs need now?
« on: September 21, 2010, 06:22:10 PM »
I feel that we need a new striker, someone in the mould of Ibrahimovic, a leftback and a rightback. Corluka,Hutton and Ekotto are suspect at the back especially when we have forwards doing marauding runs down the flanks. A defender in the mould of Ashley Cole would do wonders, although I wouldn't want him due to you know what I mean. It's a Spurs fans thingy.

A clynical top class striker. Probably not Ibrahimovic though, never rated him much to be honest. But thats just me. Barca and Inter swapping Ibrahimovic for Et'o was always a funny one i thought.
Eto is class and that Sweedish donkey..well...isn't.

that 'Sweedish' donkey is still better than any striker thats ever pulled on a Spurs shirt... and I incl. the over-rated ex-alcoholic in that list, as well as Klinsmann..

In all the years I have been a fan, supported, followed (or however you see my connection to Tottenham Gareth) we have never had a "world class" striker hence why I think this is what's missing from our current side.

In my opinion Ibrahimovic isn't the answer. I'd much prefer Villa, Forlan, Eto. All unlikely as is Ibrahimovic to my delight.

You truly are a muppet of the grandest order and you are showing your absolute ignorance of one of the games greatest goalscorers ever !!

In his career Jimmy Greaves scored 321 goals in 584 appearances (a strike rate of a goal every 1.8 games), and he is England's 3rd highest scorer with 44 goals in 57 games. He also scored on his debut at every level and at every club he played for including International level. I don't care if he had a problem off the pitch on it he was truly a genius and that's where it counts he was there to score goals and that's what he did.

Your lack of regard for people who have achieved great things in their lives is a very sad testament to the kind of person you are, the fact that you argue black is white over Jermaine Jenas says it all. As you refuse to go and spend your money too watch top class football then I assume you base you arguments on watching edited TV highlights which do not always show the whole picture. Do yourself a favour and start talking out of your backside because that would probably make a lot more sense than the Sh1te that falls out of your mouth.

Why you spend time on this board is beyond me because you really aren't a supporter or fan of football let alone Spurs, maybe you should channel you energy into something else like building your own chat forum called 'I'm a twat.com' so you can talk sh1te with like minded people

Ugs you are one funny man

some great points there mate. Greaves was a Spurs legend.

Klinsmann was a fantastic striker in his day. A proven goalscorer at every level, Ibrahimoivc is good but over-rated and will fail to reach the hights of Jurgen Klinsman and his achievements in the game.

I was just warming my fingers for a response to this imbeciles latest diatribe. Thanks for saving me the trouble. I doubt I could have put it better. Jimmy Greaves is the reason I support Spurs, a Legend who set a scoring record for us that is unlikely to be beaten.

I like Greavsie as he was a very talented striker, but really it was a different era then..... he is to English strikers what Fred Davies is to snooker players..... a player who outshone a local pool of averagely talented players/athletes who really unfortunately would be a mid-table player in the international world-class striking talent the Prem brings in...

Ibrahimovic is EXACTLY what Spurs needs.... a tall geezer with some pace who can score at the very top level at an excellent goals/game ratio(like he did for a team called Inter Milan for years).... even when at Barca his goals/game ratio was excellent and it was due to personality-clash with the coach that he didnt figure... that and someone called Messi playing centre-forward alot...

Ibra would flick away a cloned 20-something Greavsie without breaking sweat.... but Greavsie was very good for his era (tho not good enough to be in the WC winning team as I recall)...

Who can say what any player from the past would achieve in the modern game ? It's an entirely different world with fitness levels, training methods, tactics, diet and even the boots and kit having moved on leaps and bounds. Greaves was a goal scorer then and the goals haven't changed so he'd still know where they were. I think he would have been ok. In his time he played against some of the toughest nastiest defenders the world has ever seen and scored goals for fun. Most likely with the rules on tackling as strict as they are now a fit modern day Jimmy Greaves would run riot. Jimmy was injured in the earlier rounds of the 66 w/c he returned to fitness just in time for the final but Sir Alf chose to stick with Hurst, We'll never know what would have happened if Greaves had played instead but as things worked out ok it never really comes up. You can bet it would have been discussed at length if we had lost.

howwould you know they were the 'toughest and nastiest' defenders in the world ??... what a parochial comment to make..... prior to '66 how many World Cups had England won again ??...... possibly they were the mouthiest, cockiest defenders in world football...

Greaves = Fred Davies = Enery Cooper

none of the above would have the genetics combined with intelligence to be rated a world-class performer in today's standard of Sport..

Greavsie would be too busy doing a Gazza and Terry combined.... knocking off bottles of brandy and teammates WAGS with his loadsamoney...
